Hello there, I'm new. I live in Spain. While my Spanish was acceptable until about three years ago it has deteriorated dramatically recently. Speech therapists say well that's normal. I was diagnosed with Parkinsonism in 2013 with one of the neurologists on the team stating that she thought it was probably PSP. Since then I have been rather careful about not insisting on a definitive diagnosis given that it doesn't seem to affect the treatment and I suppose I've wanted to protect my carer. However with communication problems increasing I'd better find out.
Does anyone know anything about 2nd langu... - Cure Parkinson's
Does anyone know anything about 2nd language loss?
I do NOT know anything about 2nd language loss.
I live in the United States, CAlif. I was the caretaker for my son.
There is another site on HEALTH UNLOCKED concerned with PSP. On that site you also have people with CBD. I would suggest that if it is discovered that you do NOT have PD, but another neurological disorder, a different site might be more helpful than this Parkinson's site.
Good luck.
There are treatments that can be helpful if you have PSP as Parkinson’s meds are often not as effective for that condition. I would get a diagnosis if you can and take things from there.
This speaks to language issues:
“Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a condition that causes changes in movement, language and behavior. ... Eye movement problems are also a characteristic symptom of PSP, although these are often discovered when a doctor examines a person with PSP.”
