Parkinson’s

Hi, I have had Parkinson’s for about three years. I have tried so many medicines but they have not given me respite. In February I was in Cambodia when I ran out of my meds. In Cambodia I found Sinemet, this seemed to give me total rest of all my symptoms. Sadly when I got home, I was not able to find the same. I am using Sinemet with Artane, but not the same as I got in Cambodia, However, It has not given me the same relief.

What can I expect as my condition worsens. It’s now affecting my mental presses. Particularly my memory, my speech and I get confused and cannot handle my stress levels.

What can I expect in the near future.

Regards

Sinemet is a very common drug in the US

I don't think anyone's going to be able to give you an accurate description of what you can expect -- because it effects all of us differently and because it may depend in part on what to do about it. One of the better things to do is spend as much time as you can reading posts on this forum. Lotta good advice here.

It would be useful to know which country you live in. If you have been diagnosed as having PD, do you have a Neurologist to advise you?

Hi, I live on a Greek island with no neurologist. I have to take a 6 hour ferry to get to Athens. I have visited many neurologists and have tried very many medicines.

I was diagnosed in 2011, age 51, I am still in full-time employment. Different for everyone. Best Wishes, Martin

Many PwP recommend regular and energetic exercise. See John Pepper's Profile; also references from other members of the benefits of Rock Steady Boxing.

I take it that you are asking what you can do about dealing with your Pd symptoms and not specifically about what medication to take. If you are able to function without medication and are still able to do some serious exercise then look at my profile or look at my website - reverseparknisons.net and contact me. I will help you as much as I can at no cost.

Have you asked your doctor for the same dosage of Sinemet that you got in Cambodia? Why has he added Artane?

I have got the nearest I can to the Cambodian type. I have no idea why I’m taking Artane; I take1 a day.

Sinemet comes in two forms immediate release and controlled-release (CR). They are very different in effect. Controlled-release works much better for me and I believe for most people. It also comes in different dosages which of course matters as well.

Cannot get the same as in Cambodia

Same for me. The controlled or extended release Sinemet works great for me.

My protocol since ~April 20 has included Sinemet CR with IR; while continuing amantadine and methylphenidate. For me, shifting to CR is very helpful, efficacious.

Artane is a very old medication and affects memory. Drop it gradually.

In Cambodia I was on

8am Senimet 250/25

Artane 2mg

8pm Senimet250/25

Artane 2mg

It gave me complete relief while there and when back home until I ran out. What is available in Greece does not work as good.
