B1 dosage warning

Dap1948 profile image

Because many of us follow what others are doing in respect of dosage, in this case B1, I thought I would post that Dr Constantini suggests a dosage for B1 based on condition, onset and weight of the individual. For me his advice was just 2 grams a day, 1 in the morning and 1 at lunchtime.

He also pointed out that if the dosage is too high, it can determine, after an initial improvement, an aggrivation of the first improved symptoms. Then he recommends no B1 for a week followed by B1 at a lower, possibly half dose.

I hope this information helps someone!

It kind match to what happened to me. I felt very good at 2g/day for a month but suddenly I had issues. This happened after I added folic acid; I'm not sure yet if it was just a coincidence but I stopped the folic acid and drooped the dose to 1g/day and 1.5/day for now.

What I note from the posts related to B1 therapy, that it improves all other symptoms except tremors

And so many of us have tremor dominant PD this is really what we're looking to hear in any post "my tremors are under control". But we'll keep hoping.

If you look at the scientific literature about why a PD patient has the tremor becomes clearer because it is the most resistant symptom and should be controlled with b1 and levodopa. Do not ask me the links because I do not have time to look for them in English, sorry, but there are those that to explain this tremor dynamics. Not all is easy!

Not yet. I take mucuna pruriens plus a mix of 15 different herbs. I'm 49 almost 50 and started sensing tremor onset on 10/2014 but was in denial and didn't want to believe I had Parkinson's until 10/2017 had dat-scan. My whole right side is messed up. Right arm tremors with some dyskinesia at times, 20/50 vision, no sense of smell, and right leg and foot don't respond at times so it seems like I limp. Before I started taking the herbs and mp symptoms were worse,

May I ask you to write a breif medical history about yourself and that you have been taking Thiamine for the past few months ... and email it to Dr Costantini with the list of other medications and let me know once you have done so with sending me a message. I will then chase it for you and will ask Dr Costantini to look into that.

Thank you Dap. Looking forward to visiting Dr.C sometime in the near future. I'm in NJ. But my wife and daughter are flight attendants so the flight itself will be next to nothing.

Hello Dap,

I know this is off topic for this thread, but I can't resist asking:: How is your experience with Miramate PEMF going?

Is it improving your non-motor symptoms?

You announced the other day you gain energy, is that continuing?

And most importantly I am interested in knowing if it is continuing to reduce your tremors at all?

Thanks in advance for your answers
