Restless legs!!

Hi I was diagnosed at 38. I'm now 44. I was weaned off Mirapexin last week due to over spending and I'm currently being weaned onto Entacapone. However the last 2 nights my restless leg has been worse than ever. Has anyone else done this and please tell me it gets better 🙈🙈

I was put on Mirapex for Restless Legs Syndrome shortly after the original diagnosis of PD in 2013 and it worked. After experimenting unsuccessfully with 15+ other medications over a 2 year period I was delighted. However, it wasn’t long before I started putting on weight and in 9 months I gained over 40 lbs. Panic set In! So I needed to change. I went off it cold turkey. BIG mistake. I contacted my Neurologist and she weaned me off Mirapex, and then doubled my bedtime dose of Sinemet CR 100/25 mg from 1 1/2 to 3. It worked and RLS has been held at bay. However the excessive weight increase became a major challenge! That’s another story!

Hi. It is definitely worth trying magnesium - restless legs is often often linked to lack of magnesium. It is in me. Make sure that you take a form that is easily absorbed - magnesium citrate, for example, rather than magnesium oxide. You could try a magnesium oil spray, or two cups epsom salts in a long bath (mag sulphate) a few times a week. Make sure you take enough. Also, get your iron levels checked.
