NAC is great for relieving prostate inflammation. Can't say it has done anything for my PD, except as a component of a home made toothpaste put a stop to tooth decay due to low saliva.

How do you make it?

by weight: 4 parts NAC, 1 part calcium hydroxide (to neutralize pH), 2 parts calcium ascorbate (calcium salt of vitamin C), 1.5 parts serrapeptase (optional). Put about a gram of this mixture in small container and about a tablespoon of 40% ethanol (vodka). Shake and dip toothbrush in before brushing.

Yes

For the past year I have been following the Mass Gen NAC trial protocol.

I take 800mg of NAC per day, plus at my naturo MD's recommendation I have replaced my once every 3 weeks glutathion infusion with NAC.

My PD symptoms are much milder than they were couple of years ago before I adopted a systematic approach involving NAC, inosine (2G) laced with potassium citrate (400mg) (also undergoing a 3 year trial being orchestrated by Mass Gen to examine the effects on PD of evevated urate levels), magnesium glycinate (400mg), skull cap (200mg), a B complex, and CoQ10 (400mg), together with a rigorous program of fast walking and exercise every other day and deep tissue massage (1-1/2 hour) and Feldencrais sessions (1 hour) every other week. I also throw in daily dosages of Muralax and Colace to stay regular.

I have never taken any PD prescrjption med.

Hope some of this is helpful.

Anything I am missing? Questions?

Enjoy the lag time and keep exercising more if you can. Stretch at a minimum daily/yoga.

Hi SelfMeder, So you are using NAC and weaned off GSH/Glutathione infusion by now completely under direction of ur ND/neuropath? And Mass Gen protocol for the rest w good results? I am toying w idea of GSH injections (my Dr. Can write Rx). Seems oral NAC is subject to digestion etc and GSH via Injection is most direct > Blood Brain Barrier. Still trying to figure it out a bit more before I go back to discuss GSH.

Many thanks for sharing your story.

Would you recommend taking Glutathione by PD patients? Either IV or Liposomal where the main ingredients go to cells directly.

There is a wonderful paper by Dr Laurie K Mischley titled "GLUTATHIONE IN PARKINSON’S DISEASE"

It gives a great insight into the glutathione studies and the mechanism of action in an easy to understand language. I suggest anyone interested in glutathione to read this paper.

Hi AmyLindy

I would love to try GSH IV ,have read many articles ,watched several videos about its benefits but didn’t have a chance to try yet.I believe NAC has valuable benefits as well. When I talk to my neurologist and doctors amongst my family and friends, the only thing they mentioned is NAC medical use in liver toxicity caused by Acetaminophen. Obviously they think or been taught and programmed like a robot.

Dr Laurie M, re: PhD Thesis on GSH & PD. Her next presentation is 6/19 but webinar is full. Will have to watch it after it gets posted to the National Parkinsons website.
