It's possible and I did it once, but, sincerely, NOT without a neurologist advice, a plan, and a generalist following you. It can otherwise lead to severe withdrawal symptoms. Not to mention PD symptoms.

Hoping you the best

I agree get advice from your neurologist.

i have stopped using it several times just to see how much my pd h ad progressed my symptoms where worst than the last time i was off it. Why do you want to stop it is my life changer i can't do without it. Most likely will never stop taking it.

Not being a doctor, I cannot give you advice. I can tell you what other people have done in the past and I am sure some are still doing.

Most patients came off the tablets slowly. They started by taking half a tablet less each week to begin with. It could have been at any of the times they took the pills. Most people started with the penultimate dose each day. Each week they were advised to record how they felt and what effect the last reduction had. If there was no effect then they continued doing it until they noticed an effect that did not improve.

Some came off cold turkey but I don't know whether any of them went back on again or if that had any serious effects. I would not recommend it.

I came off my Sinemet and Symmetrel pills and went straight onto an MAOb inhibitor, which is very different to Sinemet. That is what my neurologist told me to do, and I had no side effects

I hope that helps you.

Hi John,

I know that you have been off from medication for more than 15 years. How long did you take Sinemet before you switched to MAO b inhibitor? I am having sinemet 25/100 4 times a day and Sifrol 3 mg once a day. My neurologist is planning to give me Azilect this year. I want come off from Sinemet but not sure I should do that. My symptons are not very severe but had been diagnosed four years ago. I have more non motor symptoms than tremors, shuffling on the left leg when l dopa is low. I follow you fast walking and take coconut oil too. I believe that exercise and walking help me to delay the PD progress.

I was on Sinemet & Symmetral for 2 years. Then switched to Selegiline and off the Sinemet & Symetrel. I was on the Selegiline for eight years before I came off that.

I always ask people who take Sinemet, "What symptoms got better, even if only temporarily?" I am surprised at how many people take Sinemet and it has NO effect on any of their symptoms, but they continue to take it. There are, of course, many who do get a temporary benefit from the Sinemet but that relief get less and less and the side effects become more and more until there is no benefit, only side effects. But they still have to continue taking the Sinemet, otherwise they cannot move.

Looking back, I am glad I was not on that track.

I AM CURRENTLY AS OF 1/22 STARTED THE MARTY HINZ AMINO ACID PROTOCOL. AT THAT TIME I WAS ON 7 SINEMET EVERY DAY AND 1 CR AT NIGHT. THE DOCTOR HAS GRADUALLY TAKEN ME OFF THE SINEMET ...AND IS GRADUALLY ENCREASING THE MUCUNA.... AS OF SUNDAY I AM ON ZERO SINEMET AND 1.5 GRAMS OF MUCUNA 3 TIMES A DAY... AM STILL TAKING 1 CR NIGHTLY...MUST ADMIT IT IS DIFFICULT ...ESPECALLY STOPPING THE ONE SINEMET IN THE A.M. I BELEIVE IT CAN BE DONE BUT ONLY WITH THE HELP OF A DOCTOR WHO IS TRAINED IN THE MARTY HINZ PROTOCOL.

Where did you find a dr that was familiar with the Hinz protocol?

He confessed to falsifying results. Some doctors have used modalities not approved by their state's medical boards but had great results. Dr Shallenberger comes to mind. He treats infections with ozone, the same ozone that makes the sky blue. Ozone is an oxidant and when injected into the body it can donate protons to other tissues. If it donates to a bacterial capsule the capsule like a soap bubble pops when you touch it. Ozone can cure infections that are resistant to all known antibiotics. I've long wondered if it could treat PD.

My wife is also doing Amino Therapy. Been on it for perhaps a couple months now. Gradually reducing the PD meds, but it’s a tough ride. Some assistance with Macunna is a good idea. She’s in consultation with a coach every day helping her thru it.
