Have you ever tried Coconut Oil or MCT Oil? If yes how was your experience?

I tried both with no improvement. I also tried keto diet.

Search this site for "coconut oil, fwes" and related comments. You will find more discussion than you can stand. Briefly: It helps many, and several report no help for them.

I took a coconut oil formula for 3 years. My symptoms were mild. This formula was selected for a test relating to coconut oil and alzheimers at a university in south Florida. Th test was cancelled and the company went off the internet. Not a good sign.

A few months ago I started sinemet. I was diagnosed 7 years ago at age 75 but waited before taking any meds. They seem to help as my wife even commented that she can see no symptoms.

I tried coconut oil for two weeks, two tablespoons in my morning coffee.

I did not feel any difference.

Coconut oil is a nutrient-rich saturated fat which is successfully used for Alzheimer's(AD) The brain needs fats to function. My husband had AD and PD but was not diagnosed with PD until 2 months before his death at 80 this year. I believe with Dr Mary Newport (who brought her husband back from early onset AD by using coconut oil) that it controls tremor. At one stage I developed a right-hand tremor so bad that I couldn't write. Was sent to a neurologist to see if I had PD and he said it was 'intentional tremor'. When I put my husband on coconut oil (work up to large divided doses of even 6 Tablespoons daily) I took it too as my mother had AD and after a while found that my bad tremor had disappeared, although I wasn't thinking of tremor when I took the coconut oil. Now that my husband has died, I've got careless about taking it and the shaking is starting again. But you have to work up to large doses. In addition, I cook with it.

I just worry about the possibility of causing plaque buildup.. How is your cholesterol ? thanks

I have taken coconut oil every day for years as science has absolutely proven that it reverses dementia and Alzheimer’s. MCT oil works the same way.

If you do not process carbs well and therefore may not get the energy you need from that source, your body can extract the substances needed from fat....coconut is a really good source for that. No question that it gave my husband more energy but I can see that may not work for everyone.

I have used it for more than one month. I am not able to figure out whether it helps as I am using 40 different things. II discontinued it due to its unpleasant taste and gaining weight

Medium-chain triglycerides are triglycerides whose fatty acids have an aliphatic tail of 6–12 carbon atoms. The fatty acids found in MCTs are called medium-chain fatty acids.

“MCTs” are medium-chain triglycerides, a form of saturated fatty acid that has numerous health benefits, ranging from improved cognitive function to better weight management. Coconut oil is one great source of MCTs — roughly 62–65 percent of the fatty acids in coconut oil are MCTs — but recently more concentrated “MCT oils” have also been growing in popularity.

Aside from coconut oil, smaller amounts of MCTs can also be found in certain other foods with saturated fats including butter (especially butter from grass-fed cows), cheeses, palm oil, whole milk and full-fat yogurt.
