Eating banana with the skin on may help Parkinsons

Hey all. I don't have Parkinsons but joined this community because of other people experimenting with supplements like I was. I am getting better taking biotin so I suspect I have a genetic problem with that. In the past few days I have been starting to eat fruit I had never eaten before in my life. Now within hours of eating several different fruits I felt better, and then tonight I ate a banana with the skin still on it except the last little stump bit on the end which was too tough to eat (well I was disappointed in myself actually for not eating it). Within minutes of finishing it I felt a feeling of relaxation, and went, and laid down in bed for 40 mins or so. Not sleepy just kind of dopey style tired but in a really nice way. Then looked up some studies on banana peels-

High content of dopamine, a strong antioxidant, in Cavendish banana.

Kanazawa K1, Sakakibara H.

Author information

Abstract

A strong water-soluble antioxidant was identified in the popular commercial banana Musa cavendishii. It is dopamine, one of the catecholamines. For suppressing the oxygen uptake of linoleic acid in an emulsion and scavenging a diphenylpicrylhydrazyl radical, dopamine had greater antioxidative potency than glutathione, food additives such as butylated hydroxyanisole and hydroxytoluene, flavone luteolin, flavonol quercetin, and catechin, and similar potency to the strongest antioxidants gallocatechin gallate and ascorbic acid. Banana contained dopamine at high levels in both the peel and pulp. Dopamine levels ranged from 80-560 mg per 100 g in peel and 2.5-10 mg in pulp, even in ripened bananas ready to eat. Banana is thus one of the antioxidative foods.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/286...

Therefore, it is recommended that supplementation of banana could be taken a vital role in stress (anxiety and depression) relief and increased in memory function possibly by phyto-antioxidants.

and if banana peel NCBi is typed in on google lots of studies come up showing how high in antioxidants banana peel is, and is good for other diseases.

So I would recommend eating a whole banana peel, and all, and see how someone feels afterwards. And also start eating a variety of fruits everyday. Start with fruits someone has never eaten. Just go to the supermarket, and buy one of each of several different fruits. Once they have been eaten do the same thing again. The aim is variety so as to get all the b vitamins, minerals, and anti oxidants because there is not one single food that has them all in the needed quantities each day. All disease is caused by a lack of variety of food in the diet which leads to micro nutrient deficiencies. If b vitamins were commonly tested on blood tests all sick people would be deficiency, and it would be obvious what the cause of disease is. I suspect they are deliberately not tested except for b9, and 12 which deficiencies don't exist because 12 is in meat; and in Australia we live on meat, and b9 must be in a food commonly consumed also. So eat a variety of fresh fruit, also vegetables, seafood (low fat, high in protein, and the type of protein in seafood is even better than soy- which is super healthy- casein in milk is disease causing protein) , nuts, seeds etc. When I get more better on my biotin then I will go on the full variety diet. Meat can still be eaten just in the same ratio as all the other foods. And pizza is one of the worst foods in the world because it has over 200g of cheese on it full of casein which causes horrible disease.

This "banana Musa cavendishii" is some special one, or just the common banana you find in every store..?

I just ate a normal one from the supermarket. It's fine no need for any special breed of banana. Another thought is - I realised they sell actual dopamine on Ali Baba. If it is only the dopamine in the banana skin that produces the effects then taking a small amount of actual dopamine each day might be good. I have taken L dopa before and eating the banana peel was a completely different thing.

A banana is shaped like the certain organ on a man. After I ate it something happened down there LOL. There was people talking about it on other forums too saying it is a treatment for erectile dysfunction. So yeh any man with a problem with that I would recommend eating the whole banana skin, and all. For women they should eat fruit shaped like a vagina. Peaches might...there will be pictures on google images. It makes sense fruits shaped like organs contain nutrients that are good for that organ. It was an old theory called doctrines of signatures google image it for pics on it. I believe it 100%. Makes sense.

Strawberries for heart problems maybe? Maybe spaghetti cures baldness, I like spaghetti and I have a full head of hair so it must be true! Thanks for enlightening us all.

Come on, don't be so suspicious. I started eating nuts to stimulate my brain. You know, nuts have the shape of the brain, right?.

Well, I did not become any wiser, but I definitely went nuts...lolololol

Lol Spaghetti is wheat made by man artificially into that shape but funny anyway. Nuts are full of good fatty acids, and b vitamins, minerals so yes they do help the brain. The brain is mostly fat so.... nuts are high in oleic acid.. the studies on it are very positive. It lowers cholesterol, body fat, tri glycerides... There might be some on it for cognition.

I know. It must mean something that nuts look like the brain (although I made fun of it)

dadcor, the Cavendish banana is the common banana in shops. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caven... It is the outstanding member of the banana fruit group.

It is interesting to note that the high dopamine content of banana peels and the relaxing feeling produced could be the result of dopamine stimulating production of melatonin in the pineal gland.

sciencedaily.com/releases/2...

A problem with this hypothesis is for dopamine to reach the pineal gland a dopamine precursor like L-dopa must be used because dopamine does not cross the blood brain barrier (unless the BBB is porous).

So the effect could be peripheral - the body affecting the mind, say reduction of inflammation, etc. Whatever the reason may your banana experiment continue to help you.

Here is an article about the immune stimulating effects of banana peels on carp:

Dopamine crosses the BBB same with otther neurotransmitters. Pharma companies say it doesnt so people take SSRIs and all the other crap instead of actual dopamine or serotonin or GABA. I am going to buy some dopamine/serotonin overseas sometime in the future, and give them a try not because i have a disease they will cure but just out of interest.

I wonder if banana tea would have a similar effect - it would be certainly easier on the stomach:

Might try it. I recommend eating it plain too though. It wasn't hard on the stomach it was easy. The texture of the skin, and the inside was nice.
