Life is the cure

Hi,

I was diagnosed with PD at age 46, after a 4 year depression. I decided to take control of my life for the first time and help others do the same. I am currently studying to become a psychotherapist.

My message to the community: illness is life's way to tell you "get back on track and start living".

So, what are you waiting for?

It does focus the mind as long as you're not too unwell to do anything about it!

Thanks for your comments. I will try to give an one-fits-all answer. If you still have questions, I will be happy to answer them separately.

There is a turning point in life when you have only two choices: fly or die. That is, if you stay on the path that brought you where you are (depression, illness, sense on unworthiness) you will definitely sink. The key is to look deep inside you and find the strength to overcome your misery. In my case, the strength had the shape of giving. After a year of psychotherapy I decided to join a self aid team for people with depression and bi-polar disorder. At first as a member and later on as a coordinator. One thing led to another, so I decided to study to become a psychotherapist. Currently I am doing my practice, seeing three clients. In parallel, I am writing a theatrical play. You see, when you say YES to life, life itself brings you the answers you need

I am also trying to cope with PD by going to the gym, biking, changing my diet and taking food supplements. My situation is not stable. I face periods of anxiety, bad sleep, times when my medication doesn' t work as well, causing me deep on-offs and freezing. But I stick to my daily schedule and routine as much as I can, hoping for the best.

This is my story. Maybe not so original and inspiring, but it works for me...

Keep flying.., this is the best protocol. And remember, it comes what is expected.

Hello christos_k;

Your attitude is great and i applaud you for what you are doing. The problem with Pd there is no 1 size fits all. PWP progress at different rates have a variety of symptoms. Keep up the good work.

True, like it or not. That is the reason why it is difficult to find a cure that passes all the clinical tests. To take your comment even further, everyone is the master of his own situation. We must find what works best for us. A positive attitude is the only way to walk through this journey. I wish the best to all of us...

I was depressed about 1 year. Then I had an epiphany. I could live a life of joy or not but would still have PD. I chose joy. And I find joy nearly every day "life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass it's about learning to dance in the rain."
