Mirapex caused Leg Cramps and many nastier side effects for me. Search: Mirapex, side effects. Since it is addictive, it is hard to get off of it. Search: DAWS

Serious dyskinesia. Have you experienced real dyskinesia before? It comes from too much Sinemet (or Stalevo in your case). I had to drop Stalevo because it caused me severe phychosis and I was admitted to the crazy ward for 15 days (in 2015). The entacapone (COMT) is what really caused me grief. Try to drop the Mirapex also. Stay with basic Sinemet IR.

I also saw a posting last month called: "Has anyone had problems with Entacapone (Comtan) side effects." You may want to read it. Just type this posting into the search tab above in the site and it should pop up.

Why don't you just add Magnesium glycinate.. 2-3 tbl/day. It helped with me..

If you're trying magnesium, you might use the spray form applied directly to your legs. It's absorbed through the skin and doesn't cause digestive issues that sometimes occur with larger doses of magnesium.

I have these spasms as well. I do take the magnesium and the spray, which help, but they persist. The spasms are rcertainly stress related as well. 6 sessions with a psychologist, focusing on unhelpful thinking and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy also helped. Nevertheless, the spasms continue to surprise me at awkward moments and they are debilitating. You are not alone.

Hi -

I don't know anything about the medications you are taking but maybe this would help you.

I take magnesium citrate at before bed. It almost eliminates night time leg cramps. There are several types of magnesium. I take magnesium citrate because it has one of the best absorption rates and is still affordable. I buy Nature Made Magnesium Citrate at King Soopers (Kroger), where they often have it buy one get one free. I take 2 - 250 mg pills but would suggest you start with one. Magnesium is also a natural laxative so proceed with caution.

I also have 2 different prescriptions I can take for muscle relaxants which I occasionally take if I need something more:

Cyclobenzaprine 10 mg - for nighttime muscle cramps (it will make you sleepy) Methocarbamol 750 mg - for daytime. Take care!

Magnesium citrate worked for me after a couple of nights of twitching legs. I reckon I got a whole 5 and a half hours sleep!

Thanks for getting back to me on this. This leg musle jerking/spasms in my left leg is really the pits. Monday I went to the ER and so, I spent 2 nights in the hospital. My neurologist changed a couple of my meds around and added carbo levodopa 50-200MG that I am supposed to take twice a day, They also gave me Ativan for the cramps, which I have taken once a day. It all seems to help. When I go into an off state, I can barely move my foot and sometimes, I resort to crawling from 1 room to another. I think stress is the underlying culprit with my Parkinsons. Thanks for your advice and for giving me some other ideas on things, I can try. I know that Magnesium is an essential element, but I didn't realize that so many people have been using it. In the posts I have received most are using Magnesium for these problems so I am going to try this too and see what happens. Thanks again for your suggeestions. This is a weird disease

I didn't like Mirapex, made me have OCD issues - I'd never take it again. My current meds are: azilect, arcane, requip, sinemet cr tabs. also walk 2 miles a day and do stretching exercises 30 minutes a day
