Tobacco and coffee

Smokers and coffee drinkers have a low probability to get PD. I never smoked or drank coffee. But I ate a lot of fruits, especially apples and peaches which have the highest level of pesticide contamination. I went through a lot of stress but I taught I kept it under control. All of these may cause my PD.

Just curios if anyone here was a smoker and/or coffee drinker. Also is anyone who may have any idea what caused his/her PD?

Thank you.

My husband never smoked or drank coffee but as long as I've known him (over 40 years) he has been a big apple eater.

I always thought it may be the apples.

A good friend of ours has PD and he was raised on an apple orchard.

It would not likely be the apples but pesticides are an issue. I likely got my PD via pesticide exposure. More at Parkinson's and Pesticides

I too am non smoker and have never drunk coffee. I've had a fair number of apples and apple juice in my time too. I also drank a lot of artificially flavoured fizzy water as I dont drink tea either. Peach being my favourite no idea what e-numbers and everything else did to me.

I smoked & drank coffee - didn't help me! I got beat up rather badly by a group of drunks when I was 19. Maybe that caused it?

Not smoking or drinking. Love apples, couple a day it’s a norm. Interesting.

Jesus guys, I grew up doing the best things (mostly) that my parents and caregivers knew at the time. I picked fresh fruit from many vines and trees (even where it wasn't legal), I've smoked cigars for many years and drank excessively in a previous life. Everyone here has their own idea what "caused" their neuro muscular "malfunction". The point is just that.... "It is what it is, so now what?" I spent my life doing what kids do, doing what was fun, not always right. I make no apologies nor cast any blame and would do most everything again........

There in lies the crux of my situation. I wish I could do it all again, even if it means taking on this neuro-muscular blip in my radar.

In the end, we all know what the end is. Myself, I don't want to know when or where....or how. If I'm going to get hit by a bus, I don't want them to honk first!

I want to live while I'm still here and not waste time wringing my hands saying "if I only would've."

Didn't smoke but drank coffee since I was a teenager. Still got PD and I don't have any of the really bad genetic mutations that are linked to PD.

It is interesting some of us did not smoke and did not drink coffee but they were fruits eaters. I taught the fruits were healthy without realizing they were contaminated with pesticides. Three years ago I read an article about that and I stopped eating them except if they are organic.

Being a smoker and a coffee drinker reduces the chances for PD but it does not make them zero.

My father has PD for over 16 years. He smokes and drunks 2 cup of coffee a day till about 10 years ago. I think the pesticides in the cigarettes caused his PD. I also believe his smoking is part of the reason he is not worries.

My uncle on my mother's side who has PD for 3 years is worst off than my father. Not sure what cause his PD. He hasn't smoke for over 20 years and never drink coffee.
