This is very interesting. As many of you will know, I have been adamant that all of the following had an affect on my 'Reversal':

1. Taking a SINGLE medication, which was an MAOb inhibitor called Selegiline (Eldepryl)

2. Fast walking for 1 hour every second day

3. Managing STRESS levels.

4. Adopting a POSITIVE ATTITUDE towards the treatment of Pd

5. Practicing regular MENTALLY STIMULATING activities, such as Su Doku and/or cryptic crossword puzzles. Also learning another language.

6. Eating a balanced diet.

I also had all the AMALGAM FILLINGS removed from my teeth.

All of these factors PLAYED A PART in my 'Recovery', in my opinion.

From my reading of Doidges article John, the protocol of yours which is repeated continuously in your posts is counter to what Doidge is advocating. I note your recent addition of removing amalgam fillings, aligning with Doidges comments

His main thesis is that one size does not fit all, that each persons condition needs its own personalized treatment path. So advocating just one way as the “proven” right way (see earlier posts) is not appropriate.

Exercise (the word occurs only once in the whole document), is not the article focus. Doidge sees alzheimers as having at least 3 types each needing different treatments. This is how I have always understood Parkinsons (a collection of many types) for the 10 years I have lived with it. Reversal or The ‘cure’ isnt going to be just one magical drug or exercise it will vary from person to person.

A lightly-informed former print shop operator who equates the ability to cobble together a few well-worn medical factoids with some form of license to proselytize on deeper scientific truths is, unfortunately, unlikely to be capable of grasping matters beyond their chronically useless 'case study of 1' (himself). Now over 25 years since his original neurologist diagnosed his Essential Tremor (ET), JP continues to preach universal "PD reversal" by walking fast (contrary to established science on the limits of GDNF/BDNF). An 'old dog' unable (or unwilling) to grasp the difference between ET and PD is, sadly, well beyond grasping the 'new tricks' of divergent PD pathologies:

"In recent years, researchers have begun to accept that perhaps PD is not a single disease... patients indisputably differ from one another: Some progress rapidly, some develop dementia after 5 years, and yet others are fine, cognitively, after 20 years with PD. 'When you’ve met 1 person with PD, you’ve met 1 person with PD,' Rachel Dolhun MD [MJFF] said pointedly. 'Everybody’s symptoms and course are so unique.'" Source: mdmag.com/journals/md-magaz...
