O and A are pretty common, but I'm surprised by so many negatives.

Jeeves19, I am A+.

This table in Wikipedia breaks down the distribution of blood types by country:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood...

Now the two main contingents at our forum are undoubtedly from the USA and the UK. These have almost identical frequencies: 35-37% each for O+ and A+, 8% for B+, 3% for AB+, and about 4-5 times less for each of the corresponding negative types. If you accumulate enough data from us PDers, it will make sense to do a comparison.

At present, on Weds., Aug. 23, there are 5 +'s and 10 -'s. Given their rarity, the dominance of negatives in our cohort is indeed mighty surprising, as Astra7 pointed out. If we have a random sample, there should be 6 times more +'s than -'s. Jeeves, maybe you are on to something!

Well I'm no scientist! Just re-considered the Eating Right for Your Blood Type after about 20 years of putting the book down. Another poster got me thinking about a fortnight ago when proposing the Lectin Diet. These loom large in D'Adamo's work. I know that the Keto Diet didn't really improve my symptoms although I only gave it 6 weeks. Hence started to wonder about blood groups and diet. Thanks for responding and this goes out to all of you who contributed. Food for thought maybe.

I think you might be onto something. It is all to do with diet and sugar I think.

The recent positive results with the diabetes drug led me to google what the drug actually does. It's gives an enzyme called GLP1. As it's not approved for PD a dr would need to get gov approval to prescribe it for PD which could take some time, so I looked up how to make more GLP1 from diet etc.

This led me back a diet incredibly similar to the 'eating for my blood type' diet that my integrative GP had put me, which I had been quite cynical about. So I've been upping the resistant starches and eating virtually no sugar as well as taking some supplements to make a nice environment for the bacteria in my lower intestine and i feel a significant improvement. I still have stiffness etc. but feel much stronger in my muscles and far more lively. I have dropped one dose of madapor, though I am only on 150mg a day

I wonder if negative blood types have more difficulties prosessing sugars?

Incidentally diabetics have a significantly higher chance of getting PD.

Also why does excercise help PD so much? Maybe helps with sugar prosessing??

Just my thoughts.

Do you avoid wheat and dairy too Astra?

Astra7 profile image
Astra7 in reply to jeeves19

Yes. I am meant to avoid wheat, dairy eggs and sugar. Basically eat like a hunter gatherer! I find it not too difficult except for the wheat as I like sandwiches for lunch. I just try to minimise all the 'bad' stuff so I can keep it up.

What about you?

Google tells me that thesis factors have to do with how protein sticks to blood cells, with negative sticking more.

Just thinking out loud but is this something? Is it also sticking more in the brain? Positive blood types might have another reason for proteins sticking -acidity or something.

There are some studies in blood types and PD (lucky B types), but they don't seem to have considered RH factors.

Would be great if a few more people could answer with blood type and +Ve or -ve . We need 30 to be statistically significant and the results are already very interesting.
