I take Turmeric from PuraThrive in thick tincture form twice a day without fail and wouldn't be without it

Curcumin with added black pepper extract in capsules acts like a catalyst, and enhances the effect of Parkinson meds such as Sinemet. Curcumin and olive leaf extract in combination produce an even stronger catalyst effect and can help in many other ways as well. With Parkinson's, the tremor is the tip of the iceberg. One effect is a weakening of the bladder muscle, and problems emptying the bladder completely, and this leads to repeated UTI or urinary tract infection which can cause kidney problems and other disasters such as urinary incontinence etc. There are many people who just give up and use adult sized diapers and accept that as part of PD. Urinary tract infections caused by E.coli are suppressed by a combination of curcumin and olive oil extract capsules, 3 or 4 times a day. I use capsules containing 600 mg of curcumin plus black pepper extract and also capsules containing high strength olive leaf extract containing 66mg of oleuropein. My full supplement list is in other posts here. I also use cinnamon and bee pollen. I use 2 capsules of each, curcumin and olive leaf extract at least 3 times a day, sometimes 4 to suppress or prevent a UTI from developing. I also use Sinemet CR. Most of the time, I feel so good, that it is almost as though my PD is being reversed, then I am reminded by fate, in some way that it is not. The iceberg also includes occasional problems with speech, and other issues. I was diagnosed in 2013, but had had the tremor in my right hand for many years, before that.

I read recently in an article by Dr. Al Sears that a form of high potency curcumin extract - BSM-95 (2500 mg) +1200 mg of Boswellia, helps break up the myeloid placque formation in the brains of those with PD and Alzheimers. The article was mainly about current research with the herbs having great success with a variety of intestinal cancers. I've been researching it for a friend with Stage 4 Peritoneal Carcinomotosis, and corresponded with the main oncological researcher mentioned in the article, but he gave no information re PD or Alz. But the research must be out there somewhere. Why not contact Dr. Sears, he may know??

"Out of these four boswellic acids, acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid is

the most potent inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase, an enzyme responsible for

PS. BCM-95 and Boswellia can be ordered through Life Extension USA or their European branch. This company has the highest quality supplements on the market and was highly praised by the research doctor.

I thought I had completed my research on Curcumin and was about to buy some when I came across reports that it prolongs the (heart) QT interval.

There are also low bio-availability issues which IMHO are not totally resolved with peperine, but are improved if it's liposomal.

"Although, Curcumin exhibited a ken of potent activities, it is a lipophilic compound with very low aqueous solubility [4]. Due to low solubility, it shows solubility-limited bioavailability which makes it a Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS) class II drug[4]. Various studies with Curcumin in rodents and humans have shown very low bioavailability with limited efficacy.

Such low bioavailability limits its usefulness and hence its introduction into the clinical setting. Furthermore, the high doses required to achieve therapeutic concentrations in blood are often undesirable by the patients. In various clinical studies, daily doses from 8-12 g given to human volunteers were found to give very low plasma concentrations (<1 ug/ml) insufficient to exert any clinically useful pharmacological activity [5]."

Longvida formulated Curcumin is for the brain whereas meriva is for the gut.

It's probably the most effective supplement for pwp, but I have to concern myself with the QT interval because I take Nilotinib/Tasigna.

Here's a good link.

In my experience, it gives mild relief of fatigue but is very short lasting. Nonetheless, I take one every morning.
