Neupro and shopping complusively

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease four years ago. I am on Sinemet, Neupro. I have been doing well for the most part, but I struggle with shopping complusively. I have gone from Neupro (Requip) 8mg to 4mg and have seen some improvement, but continue to see it as a challenge. Does anyone have tips and suggestions??? Thanks..

Have some one control your money. I have no access to any money only one credit card. This way i can nor gamble.

This is something you should report to your Neurologist. S/he may want to adjust your medication.

My neuro told me the compulsive behaviors are common on mao b inhibitors and can be very destructive.. I.e gambling,sex,drugs etc. beware.

Not exactly - it is the Dopamine Agonists such as the Neupro patch that are mainly responsible, not the MAO-B inhibitors.

Nancirice - first, good for you for having the self-awareness to recognize this. Best to taper off completely if you can.

husband started gaming on computer up to 18 hours a day on neupro patch. Neurologist took him off and put him on just sinemet. He still plays a lot, but not to the point that our lives are in ruins.

What alternatives are available that don't cause compulsive behavior? It's my understanding that most/all agonists have the same side effects. If that is so, what other medications can be taken for the stiffness/rigidity? I have been on this terrible ride since being taken off of Klonopin (opioid) and have not received the same results
