Hi

I have a mother who has been diagnosed with PD - Been on Madopar for at least 2 years with alteration in mood , sleep patterns , eating less / etc...and of late she is seeing people in her room that are not present.

She spends most time in bed .Im very concerned for her , has anyone experienced the same and what other medications can be used here .

Any experiences would be appreciated

Thanks

I advise you see her Neuro Consultant with your Mother's problems. The hallucinations could be unrelated to her Madopar. She may just have an infection which can cause this in the elderly.

I have often seen evidence of hallucinations and other side effects of levodopa medication. If the patient is getting relief from some of the symptoms and is prepared to put up with the side effects then fine! If not, then talk to your doctor about changing the medication.

You ask for other experience. If your mother is able to walk around the house still then maybe she can consider walking for longer and longer periods outdoors? I have been able to overcome most of my Pd symptoms by walking. Look at my profile for more details.
