Hallucinations

My husband is in a nursing home due to Parkinson's dementia and has constant hallucinations. Seroquel is not working.nuplazid made him combative so we stopped that. Has anyone had this happened? Please share your experience. Thanks

Medications are notorious for causing hallucinations. My husband was recently hospitalized, and he was put on an anti-seizure med (he's never had a seizure) and it caused him this kind of problem. As soon as they stopped it, the "seeing things" was gone!

Thank you for the reply. I was reading a forum on MJFox site and read similar stories. I've read a lot about cbd oil and mannitol. Any thoughts? I feel like his Dr. Is just giving up and wants to keep him sedated and doesn't have any wish to help solve this awful hell he's going through.

I've been reading some on CBD oil too as well as LDN (low dose naltrexone.) These things are a little difficult to implement when you don't have control over what is given or not... They aren't things that are part of the usual "medically oriented" protocols, so they (nurses and others) aren't always comfortable experimenting with the patients/residents. It does involve some risk to them and also knowing what to look for as far as side effects of these alternative substances too. The problem isn't easily solvable...

I also think that just being in the dementia unit is hard for him. Lots of "behaviors" from other residents that he see's and hears. I am working on getting him home with help in the house as this will be a very hard thing for our family. At that time I will think about alternatives as conventional treatment isn't helping. Maybe nothing will. Thank you for your reply.

Immunocal WILL help. Start asap. Go online and watch Barbara Fairchild's video about her mother. She was a in a vegatative state and in 5+ weeks was eating and talking on her own.
