Dystonia in hands and feet.

Hi everyone.

I've developed dystonia in my foot and hand over the last year which has impacted greatly on my quality of life. I have 2 questions. Firstly does anyone know of a dystonia specialist in the West Midlands UK? Secondly, any thoughts on how to deal with it?

Thanks

Firefly do you take any conventional treatment. I see you had an alternative health practioner day a while back and wondered what treatment you now take as dystonia can be related to medication or absence of it.

Hi Hikoi.

I'm not on any medication although I did try 2mg of ropinerole earlier this year for 2months. I stopped because of side effects.

There is one expert in dystonia. He is Spanish and lives in Toronto. His website is fariastechnique.com . You can buy his video of finger and hand exercises from his website. Doing these daily has enabled me to return to playing piano and writing well. His method works on neuroplasticity. I am going to Toronto to work with him for four days next week, I'm hoping to lose my tremor and basically improve movement. His technique calms overstimulated neural pathways and awakens dormant neural pathways and is very individual for each person. His books describing case studies are fascinating and can be bought and downloaded from his website. His ted talk is youtu.be/czW-xBvDtHY

Can you please update us on your success with losing tremor after your visit to Toronto next week?

I will certainly post something when I have anything to report. From what I read of other cases, it takes time and practice before 'no tremor' becomes automatic. There will be other tips I'm sure, but I will post when I have something I feel is useful.
