Dyskinesia. new finding
Interesting article! The conclusion in the nutshell: "people who did daily non-ex- ercise activities maintained movement better than people who did vigorous exercise occasionally but were otherwise sedentary."
My last two holidays have, for various reasons, involved my being "on the go?" every waking hour. The most recent being an 18 day trip to China where I must have walked miles and climbed thousands of steps at my own pace. I am 77 and far from being exhausted at the end of a trip I have felt more normal and energetic l than ever and my dyskinesia was kmild if at all.My conclusion is that continual movement is the key if you can maintain the motivation.
Severe arthritis and post polio syndrome precludes me from doing a lot of walking, at this stage, in my diagnosed PD progression. I have the motivation, but not the ability. I exercise with aquatic movements, at times, along with range of motion exercises to keep me moving. Any exercise is better than none.
What interesting studies, thanks for posting Parkie.
The first supports another study thats been mentioned on here showing dyskenesia is due to disease progression rather than use of drugs. It concludes that delaying using meds when they are needed is not necessarily a good move.
Second one on exercise supports another report ive read that doing housework maybe as good as exercise .
re meds - I was recently with a woman 3 years diagnosed and on no meds. Already her hand had very noticable contracture despite her efforts to exercise it
