It sounds like tinnitus...perhaps. That can be very irritating. I don't have it but my brother does and he tries to imitate the sound for me so I'll know what he's hearing. That alone is pretty damned irritating.

If it feels like a swarm of bees in your head, yes I have been there. 200mg sertraline a day was my answer.

Yes I've had it for years! Was told its tinnitus. One Dr said, its related to my neck but another said, its to do with my ears

I find different meds bring on tinnitus. Sometimes it settles after a while.

My suggestion is that it is probably BPPV. you should see your doctor. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo can have different causes but is usually due to debris in the channel of the inner ear.

But motorbiker didn't say anything at all about experiencing vertigo or dizziness.

No vertigo or dizziness just like a vibrator in your head. Also a lot of eye spasms / fluttering. Neuro seems to ignore it. I suppose there's not a lot he can do.

I am no M.D., but I can throw out a thought for what it's worth. Well, when the neurologist fails you, that's your chance to become your own medical sleuth. The eye spasms, depending on the type, can give you a clue. Here's a tidbit from a site on brain anatomy

( namely aans.org/Patients/Neurosurg... ) :

"Cranial Nerves

There are 12 pairs of nerves that originate from the brain itself. These nerves are responsible for very specific activities and are named and numbered as follows:

Olfactory: Smell

Optic: Visual fields and ability to see

** Oculomotor: Eye movements; eyelid opening

** Trochlear: Eye movements

Trigeminal: Facial sensation

** Abducens: Eye movements

** Facial: Eyelid closing; facial expression; taste sensation

??? Auditory/vestibular: Hearing; sense of balance

Glossopharyngeal: Taste sensation; swallowing

Vagus: Swallowing; taste sensation

Accessory: Control of neck and shoulder muscles

Hypoglossal: Tongue movement"

Any of the 4 nerves that I have marked with asterisks could be involved. And they trace to the specific areas of the brain that may be injured or diseased. A good supporting clue would be if that region is in proximity to the region receiving signals from the Auditory nerve, marked ???.

Your neurologist might wake up from his slumber if you can bring him something specific to chew on.
