Strange noises

My husband has Parkinson's and is making some strange noises He is uncertain why he's making them ,but is making them more and more. what could this be anyone else experienced this condition?

Awake or asleep noises? If it's when he is asleep, like calling out, it's R.E.M. Sleep disorder which is common in PD

No, its while awake, and all the day off and on. However this morning woke up doing it.

For many people, even REM dreams fade quickly on awakening. You might ask him, as he wakes up, if he has been dreaming and try to correlate the dream to the noise. As to "strange noises", made while awake, the term is a little broad. A brief description of the noises, and the time of day noted would be helpful. Someone will be able to help you.

He actually does the sound all day, and its just moaning and he says exhaling noises.

It would be a good idea to get a doctor to look at his lung function. I know that some people with Parkinson's have trouble with moving enough air and this noise could be him making more effort than usual.

thats what i was thinking? how does the PD not affect breathing and your heart beating or your eyes blinking?

It does affect all of those but the trick is to eliminate all the other possible causes such as chest infection.

Then you need somebody like a speech and language therapist to help him improve his lung volume.

wow. i had an op and because i coundnt move my body, my bronchioli were collapsing. the physio would try to make me cough and breathe in and out slowly. shit. i didnt know that something so simple was so difficult. and starting to walk again. it was taking so much to get the movement going, that the leg would flap into the air before i put weight on it. it was like having a goosestep. lol. hitler would have been so proud.

I have made all types of strange noises yhe last 10 years. Cause most likely was meds. I don't worry about it just part of my life. I just roll with it.

Could these possibly be pain noises? I know that the noises I make are from my chronic pain often bring stare and questioning looks. Grunts, short hiccup sounds, & sucking in noise are a few.

Yes. I've caught myself moaning or making humming sounds from time to time (and not when sleeping, I should add.) Not from pain, though. I have been wondering, and trying to analyze it myself. I think it makes me feel calmer, causing resonant vibrations that somehow soothe my (damaged) brain. I'm also engaging my respiratory system at the same time, expelling air from my lungs, so maybe it's something to do with my lungs/breathing apparatus not feeling normal. I can just imagine, as I get older and progress, how weird I may become. Yikes!!

ha. when we make it to our age we have the right to be weird. i used to be called kwirky. with age it seems to become ''eccentric''. its like when you are young and only wear one shoe you are kwirky and when you are old you are eccentric. kwirky sounds a lot more fun.

My husband makes weird noises and and sometimes does strange hand movements with them . I used to work with individuals with obsessive compulsive disorders and they did these to calm themselves or if they were bored. When we are out doing things in public it never happens to R. I usually try not to fuss over it he has everything he needs and seems not to be in pain.

i have only had 2 scary dreams in my life. i have what i call ''action dreams''. its like being an actor in a movie where you get to do all these things with no consequence.

can you believe it? i actually can fast forward to the next scene.

yip. i dreamed somebody had to cut my leg off and came with one of those big round electric tree saws and said ''sorry, its the only way.''

so i thought, ''yikes, i dont think i can handle this. let me fast-forward''. next minute i was in another scene and looked down and thought, ''whew, thank goodness that worked''. and i still had my legs.

My brother is doing the same thing it's not when he is asleep, but rather when he's tired. He will be talking & sort of growl and hum or say ump out loud bumm? I kind of think my brother may have turrets.

My husband makes all sorts of loud noises. Sometimes when he is asleep but also when he is awake. He is unaware he is doing it. Once I asked him to please keep the noise down as I was trying to sleep. He has an excellent sense of humor. I figure it is either Parkinson's or the meds, da! I don't worry about it, I just pause and rewind if I'm watching TV.
