The thing that helps me most with constipation is eating grapes. I always have them in the house. I can't handle the cramps that come with laxatives.

How about prune juice?

It worked for my dad.............then, at about 90 years old, he switched to a herb tea made from scratch from a recipe that he knew from my Mexican grandmother (I don't have it).

hanifab23.....My father has passed on, 2010. My son (PD) hasn't had problems with constipation.

So sorry that I can't help.

Cold fruit juice first thing in the morning, drinking slowly with pausing between each swallow; to get the Natural rythmn of gut movement going (as the coolness hopefully triggers and retriggers the intestinal / colon walls on its way down).

Sometimes just drinking a hot cup of microwaved water is all that's needed. It's very calming. I learned this tip from a book called Perfect Digestion the Key to Balanced Living by Deepak Chopra, MD which was written in 1995. I guess my PD did start with my gut way back then.

in reply to hopedope

Maybe so. I've read that gut problems can trigger or cause PD.

Smooth Move tea. It comes in bags and Keurig cups. It has senna in it as the active ingredient . My P.A. Suggested it. You can find it at Walgreens. So far it's working ok. Good luck.

in reply to WtjrBill

Sorry for my ignorance. What does P.A. stand for?
