Symptoms frequently change

This morning I was taking good care of myself and was completely symptom-free.

Around 3 o'clock I sat down to watch CNN. An hour later, when I got up from watching, the symptoms were back, full blast!

Anyone else experienced this?

Peace, Eva🎈

Hi Eva

I have not really experienced anything like this.  However, I think you responded to my post on this revolting cough.  If I am right, how are you getting on.  If I am wrong, please ignore me.  I am worse than ever.  Have tried tablets, mouth washes and now mouth gel.  I also had swabs taken that showed I had oral thrush.  I am going back to see my Dr this morning, but the constant 'sickness' seems to  be affecting my Parkinsons.

Hope you get some answers to your problem.  It appears that my problem is not related to Parkinsons specifically.  Good luck.

Sue

Vicodin works great to stop a cough. I get post nasal drip and it's horrible. Elevating one's head on 2 pillows helps, also. And, any cold medicine that has the letters DM on the bottle helps to bring the stuff out of your lungs that makes you cough..

What symptoms do you ordinarily have that came back?

I take Benadryl and it also helps my tremors.

rhyspeace12   The symptoms that came back were dizziness and dry mouth.  At this point I can't stand either .

Do you have dry mouth, and if so what do you do for it?

Thank you for caring and have a beautiful day.

I sleep with a sugar free cough drop in  my mouth to prevent dry mouth at night. In all the years I've done it, I have never choked on one. The dizziness goes away drinking when I lots of water all day long.Dehydration can cause both conditions and I don't have either one now.

hmm, i made some mistakes in that response, but it is meant to say that drinking lots of water made a big difference.

People please all this is managable if not curable. Your only seeing Dr's which is your worst choice. Gmo foods goods, treated water & industry toxin is the cause. If you can be desperate enough to Feel well you will find your own cures & I bet My life theirs 100's. I couldn't get out of bed until I changed my lifestyle as soon as I discovered the health system is just a money making system that has nothing to do with actual health & that ALL health problems start in the gut. When was the last time your Gp asked about your bowls or suggest detox cleanse or anything they can't make money on but it's YOUR choice to be sold out to some dude that's sleep deprived during his "medical education" & chooses your meds on the basis that he is getting 30% profit as the drug rep has shouted lunch & gave a really cool demo. C'mon people don't be statistics be your own Dr as well as study the net under natural cures.

Court   good morning 🌺Thank you for replying to my post.

I'm sorry to hear about your other problems besides PD .  PD is sure plenty to handle by Itself.

I am going through tooth extraction and extension, and that is affecting my symptoms too in a bad way.

Yesterday I told my son half jokingly I was not coming out of my bedroom. It seems that the minute I walk out my bedroom door the world hits me and the dizziness starts. Dizziness is my worst symptom along with dry mouth.

What bothers me the most about being dizzy, is that I feel limited in exercising .

I do what I can to stay well, and that includes learning about the brain and what we can do when we use it right.

Reflux will cause a cough.  Thrush may indicate a biotic imbalance.

Domzin.  Your comment is very interesting.  Would be grateful if you could elaborate as I have Thrush, but cough to clear my airways, which is very unpleasant.

don't really know what else to say except that a cough is a common symptom of reflux.  reflux can  also be caused by an overgrowth in bad bacteria. reflux can come from several things - one being  a weakness in the spincter between the stomach and esophagus, allowing the gas from the digestive process to travel back up into the esophagus, which is not equipped to handle the acid.  This can go as far as irritating the nose and be mistaken for allergies.  Or it can be a lack of something in the digestive process in the stomach....an enzyme maybe, which keeps the food from digesting in a timely fashion.  picture food decaying there, making more gas than the stomach can hold and so passing it up into a weak spincter.  PDers often have slow transit time for food so the food can lie there and decay.  there are things which help that, i.e., Digest RC, one of the top sellers at LEF.org.  There is fiber to help but one must be careful lest it accumulate into a 'hairball' type of blockage to the upper intestine.  so, one wants good digestion (enzymes) plus good transit (Digest RC and a fiber like Glucomannon also at LEF, i am sure) and really good probiotics which will help restore the bacteria imbalance which manifests itself as thrush.  thrush is very common with chemo patients who have had the bacteria ratio scuttled from their meds and have yeast infections like thrush.  don't know where you live so can't mention a probiotic but there are lots of really good ones now.  You can subscribe to ConsumerLab.com and read up on a load of tested supplements, biotics, etc.  They do NOT sell anything, just test for label accuracy, price comparisons, etc.  A good online place to shop is VitaCost.com.   Take control of your disease to the extent possible.  Supplements are really good, as is exercise.  Remember that having a disease means that things are cockeyed and must be put to right as much as possible.  Your body is in a state of 'dis-ease', i.e., homeostasis is off and needs to be restored.

Thanks for your reply which is really interesting.  I do suffer from acid reflux, and have done so long before Parkinsons joined the club.

My symptoms have changed since my dry mouth days.  My swallowing reflexes are normal.  I have recently been assessed.  My Parkinsons Consultant has confirmed that it is not a problem caused by my cocktail of drugs and my GP has eliminated any which could cause similar symptoms.  I am at a loss as to what else I can do  At least I have some idea what I am dealing with with Parkinsons and have always exercised regularly.  However, this latest problem has stopped me from exercising as much with the result that my Parkinson symptoms  are not as well controlled.  However, I will do what I can.  Thanks again.

Eva

Are you referring to Parkinson's symptoms returning after a while of being symptom free?

My husband has Parkinson's and he refers to his ON/OFF time as being like a switch. I can also see it in his body. He doesn't need a schedule (but he has one) to tell him when his OFF time is happening. It is obvious to anyone who is with him; the facial expression is most noticeable.

Each time he will say: It's like a switch.

12stargate profile image
12stargate in reply to leojohn

leojohn    Yes that is exactly what I'm talking about. That is the first time that has happened where it was so pronounced .

Your husband said that it's like turning the switch.

Oh well. It's a new day, new beginnings and a chance to burn something new.

Not so fast Eva!

That is my husband's experience and it MAY be similar to yours. Observe it for a while and see how it goes. The good thing is that there is no need to set a timer. Your internal clock is set...just kidding!

If at the end you like your creation, that's a bonus.

Good morning Eva.  Sorry to hear that you are having problems.  I am finding myself tearing up all of the time and I hate it!  I take Welbutrin but am wondering if I should see about upping the dose a bit.  I am embarrassed by the tears....sure that it makes me look like I am just feeling sorry for myself.  I am currently in the LSVT Big program and they are running me ragged.  It makes me tired and then the tears come.  Did you ever have that?  Hope you have a good day with no symptoms....dare to dream. :)

Peaches   good morning and God's blessings to you. I never had the tears, and I am sure that is a little embarrassing. did you cry much before PD? I never did. Is this something new?

I get to find an exercise routine with a group of people. That's a little hard to do because I don't drive. And exercising is hard to do when I feel so dizzy. Have you heard of any exercises easy to do when you have dizziness ?

I dare to dream. We have to. And the cure is coming.

Hello again.  No, I did not cry more than normal but I have always been too soft hearted so tears come for good thoughts as well as bad.  Guess it's just me fighting a bit of depression.  Today I went to an intro to Qigong Tai Chi and I am going to take a class once a week.  It is good for balance, mood, and all sorts of other things.  It certainly is much less taxing to the body than yoga.  Will let you know how it goes. :)  Hope you can find a group to work out with.  Do you have a Senior Center?  Ours offers so many things and they are all free.  Both the yoga and taiChi are given there.  Good luck on that.  Peaches

My experience has been that exhaustion makes me more prone to tears. One thing about Wellbutrin, it can increase tremors. I was taking 300 mg but now take 150 mg. Right now I take a combination of Wellbutrin and Cymbalta. I was taking Wellbutrin and Celexa which worked better, but the doc said Cymbalta has the added advantage of mitigating nerve pain, and that has been welcome indeed.

Did you eat before you sat down or drink anything.

12stargate profile image
12stargate in reply to Bailey_Texas

Bailey_Texas  yes I did eat and drink food before I sat down. I'm wondering if it wasn't the stress of the News of the day that'  stressed me out and brought it on.

Tell me please, what exercise do you suggest for people that are  dizzy?

Much love to you this day from Eva G👍🎈😊

Bailey_Texas profile image
Bailey_Texas in reply to 12stargate

Both stress and food can cause PD to act up the food can block he meds. As for as the news I do not watch or discuss much about bad news. Keeping positive about every thing is very good for my PD. Can't do anything about things in the news anyway so why worry about them.

Water exercises are great for you no impact and no chance of falling. Just do it with some one or a group.

Got more love than i can use here with my grand babies ( 6 of them from age 4 to 20) my wife and kids. But will save yours for a rainy day.

i assume you know that protein inhibits the efficacy of carbidopa/levodopa.  many PDers only eat protein at their dinner meal since they know they will be going to bed soon and not 'need' the c/l as much.  we use Rytary, a time released c/l and don't notice the interference as much by the protein.

Yesterday morning I woke up with uncontrollable tremors because of stress.. It's amazing how little it takes to make me completely stressed out. So I took my two milligrams of neupro patch and the Tremor continued all day until I finally calm down last night. This morning I got up with no symptoms whatsoever but of course it was short-lived. Good luck stay happy.

we use oil of lavender capsules (integrative therapeutics.com) to stop anxiety in its tracks. within a half hour.  we also use a lot of theanine.  both about every 3 1/2 hours all day long.  after 15 years of trying to control the stress/anxiety, this has been the best and no side effects.

Eva I also vary in symptoms over the period of the day.  Rest for me helps and of course the standard exercise, which is walking for me.  I also stretch but walking helps my foot and leg on right side function better. Sure makes it tough to predict how one is going to be at any given time!

Peaches, I also went through teary period but it also passed eventually. Now I am more numb.  Not sure which I prefer?! lol.

Sue I hope you cough gets better very soon .  Nobody needs anything further to deal with since Parkinson's  is enough of a challenge.

Like Eva I hope for a cure someday and I stay open to the fact that they are constantly finding new ways to deal with the symptoms.

Eva, my dad has random times where he hardly shakes and feels pretty good! He has not figured out the WHY behind this . There are just times like this and we are thankful! At other random times he feels especially bad. One trigger for this is over heating and working really hard outside. Other times are stressful situation related. Sometimes...totally random.

12stargate profile image
12stargate

rsacdoolittle I know what you mean!! So much about PD is random. And it is escruciating when it is bad!! Doctors don't really know what to do for us. They kindly offer suggestions. That is really all they can do.

Summer heat and stress are killers. I hope your dad stays out of the heat. I love yardwork too. I do a little at a time when it is hot.Someone with MS gave me a cooling west and that saves me in the summer too. Check it out on Amazon.

And stress...........it is amazing how quickly it becomes hyper stress!!!

We can not avoid it either. For me it is learning how to deal with it. Deep breathing and Qui Gong in the mornings help me a lot.

Give my best to your dad. He is a brave man!!

Having PD and continue to get up every morning, is nothing to sneeze at!!

Much love from Eva G. :)

Hey, I'm in the early stages, there are times when I am absolutely fine, I can do everything and other times when I am limping around and it's obvious. I can't see a trend or reason for the changes, I have to assume it's simply changing dopamine levels. I'm not on official meds yet but take Macuna P.
