Parkinson’s Disease Psychosis

An estimated 40 percent of these patients have Parkinson’s disease psychosis, which is characterized by hallucinations and delusions, a diminished quality of life, and significant caregiver burden.

The Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) action date for completion of FDA review of the NUPLAZID New Drug Application (NDA) is May 1, 2016. The FDA has granted the NUPLAZID NDA Priority Review status and designated NUPLAZID for the treatment of psychosis associated with Parkinson’s disease as a Breakthrough Therapy.

This is good news!!!

Hallucinations ? I think it might be your shirt.

An episode of 3 days length caused by Pain killers in the hospital, made me realize this is no laughing matter. Who better to lead you along into  a story with a cast of characters in events that are designed just for you using your own memory against you, than your own brain. I can tell you all about it and make it make it sound humorous, and that is the picture my family gets.  Terror, confusion, alone in a way that is impossible to describe. If you know someone, get help for them immediately.

Small fluffy rabbits , everything under control. Then it is not, not at all. Do not  leave them and get help.

My husband says it just goes around in a circle, he'll have hallucinations, that go away, then he'll have shaking hands and that goes away; it all comes and goes constantly. I do know his hallucinations are nothing like i used to observe. He had a really hard time when he was on Ambien, and it took him two weeks to recover from the last dose he took.
