Don Jacobson was diagnosed in his mid-fifties with Parkinsons. Over a period of twenty years his symptoms became progressively worse. Just received the book yesterday. Everyone diagnosed with PD could benefit from reading this as well as anyone else with movement issues, a "diagnosis" of any kind and those in their lives.

my question is, what meds is Don on at the time of this video? Was he able to eliminate or reduce his meds?

Does Don attribute his turnaround solely to attitude, or exercise? Are there also medicine, diet, supplement, sleep or other changes that he thinks were important?

I saw my Neuro recently and he seemed genuinely surprised and flabbergasted that I was playing tennis about twice a week and generally being generally active after about twenty years with pd.

But I'd worked out Don's analysis all those years ago despite the lack of advice and vital essential information from neurologists in general. Exercise is an essential early issue to encourage prior to the drugs rather than the thinking that the medication will sort us out!

Hi RoyPop, report on Neuro patch. Tried it Monday morning And within the hour tremor disappeared and later arm swing improved and returned to almost normal., was more fluidity. This continued all day. The next morning l removed it and did not replace it. Tremor did not return until Wednesday afternoon even. Though I was unmedicaded. I will return to my neurologist on the 26th to reevaluate.

MSgt (US Army Ret.) Donald "Jake" Jacobson, 88, died at his home in Washington D.C. on November 26, 2013 from complications of Parkinson's disease.

A Stevens Point native, he attended McKinley School and was a 1943 graduate of PJ Jacobs High School. He served during World War II, the Korean conflict, in Viet Nam and was a Legion of Merit recipient. In addition to his military career, he farmed briefly in the Town of Dewey, before embarking on numerous business ventures in Montana and Virginia.

Don had a long history of volunteer service, was generous to friends and strangers, and brought joy to others with his ready smile. He tried to live every day to the fullest, and on his own terms.

He leaves to celebrate his amazing life his devoted wife of 67 years, Lenora Bras Jacobson;, daughter, Mae (Blake) Novak; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (John) Boudry; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sons, Major John Jacobson (US Army Ret) and Air Force Sgt Donald William Jacobson II; brothers, Frank and Charles; and sister, Val Stieber.

Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in the spring. Memorials in Don's name may be sent to the Silver Spring Village, c/o 500 Pershing Drive, Silver Spring MD 20910 or to the disAbility Resource Center, 409 Progress Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
