Exelon Patch

My father has been very forgetful, he forgets what year we are in etc. Today the neuro prescribed him the memory patch, I thinks it's the exelon patch. Has anyone tried this patch? Any side affects? Thoughts? These patches are really expensive, almost $400 and I'm thinking of trying out a more holistic natural form & have him take a tablespoon of coconut oil, which I hear has reversed early stages of Alzheimer's.

I just looked..unpleasant side effects incl. tremors.. Good luck! Hope it works. 💐

Coconut oil: 6 tbsps per day (or more; adjust to your experience) Recommended: 2 tbsps at each meal and 2 before bed.

Heat 1/3 coffee cup of coconut milk, the variety that contains 6g of sugar, place two tbsp. of coconut oil and after it melts in a moment, you have a tasty drink not unlike hot cocoa. For that matter, I sometimes add a chunk of unsweetened cocoa for flavor.

There are as many opinions on the ideal dosage of coconut/MCT oil as there are users, but a 'newbie' starting out with 6 Tbsp p/day better be prepared to make frequent dashes to the toilet. It might be wise to start with 1 Tbsp, once or twice per day, to judge how it's tolerated.

How are you feeling lately? Are you still taking the C/L?

Still taking C/L. Titrating up to 1 tab 4x day. Tremors exist.

I had a bad experience, which doesn't mean you will too..... I became aggitated and wope up in the middle of the night tripped over my elderly dog, it was awkful. I ripped the second patch off and never went back. I would give you mine because they are very expensive. just saying.....

Would it be easier for coconut oil newbie if you "cook" with coconut oil (or add to the food at the very end, to avoid burning or overheating the oil)? Stir fry / or roasting with it instead of usual canola oil for example, so long as he or she still has some level of manual dexterity?

Mtnstream, that won't surprise me. Yeek. :(

Donepezil / Tacrine..these all have horrendous side effects which may not affect everyone..

It's the safest memory fpdrug to use in parkinsons as it doesn't block dopamine line so many others. And thev Eason the patch is used is for two reasons. Ne as it by passes the gut and is absorbed faster to the brain secondly patients with memory or agitation issues might not take tablets for various reasons.

My husband tried the excel on patch but soon developed a spreading rash all over his back near the site of the patch.

all patches are very expensive. way out of line. i use the coconut oil , 1 tbl.s in my coffee each morning and it has helped a lot. but it's a good idea to start with smaller amounts in the beginning and gradually work your way up. it takes a little getting used too. but it sure is worth a try. i don't even notice in the coffee any more , it just makes your lips a little oily or slippery. it's like put chapstick on your lips , or lipstick. but if you have chapped lips it's good for that too. nothing is eliminated but it sure makes things better.
