I am currently taking 200mg tablets every time I take my co-careldopa. I have not noticed any change in the effectiveness of meds, nor a lengthening of their efficacy. But maybe its because they are working and I'm able to do more. Sorry not to be more helpful. If you are experiencing off periods, it may be worth a try.

Dr Jill suggested that I try Entacapone 200mg. With it I am able to reduce my dose of Sinemet from 5-6 to 4 per day. I was diagnosed with PD in 2009, symptoms since 2005. My total daily PD treatment is 4 Sinemet 25/100mg, 4 Entacapone 200mg, 1azilect 1mg, and 8T coconut oil.

This controls my PD symptoms, except for occasional mild tremor. I also experience mild weakness and fatigue which were severe after I first withdrew from 3mg Mirapex last April and are gradually lessening.

Entacopone + Sinemet or Madopar = Stalevo.

I take Entacopone and Madopar. While titrating to best dose the only side effect seemed to be a daily dose of the "squits". Can't remember how long for. Yes it did seem to help maintain on periods but not by very much. It is difficult to say what the results were in specific detail as I failed to make good notes. Must try harder next time.

Also, if you have to pay full costs for your drugs, I believe this one is another expensive one.

Perhaps the cost is reduced if Stalevo instead of Madopar + Entacapone.

Would like to get my hands on some medical marijuana. Been reading a lot of good things about it but it is not legal where we live.

Medical grade marijuana is far too strong for this old toker. it does help with depression and seems to increase the effectiveness of levadopa but you will notice reduced coordination and that your swaying back and forth when you overdue it. of course this is all anecdotal and not hard evidense. and i do love the smell of good sticky bud but dont overdue it. The question is whether marijuanna causes pd if its overused or cures it in low doses for the short term.
