I am going in for knee replacement surgery this Friday the 23rd. I'm not looking forward to the pain of rehab but so looking forward to walking my dogs, riding my stationary bike, losing weight etc.

Make sure your anesthesiologist is fully aware of your PD. They need to be careful what agents they use to avoid post anesthesia paranoia. Also remember to tell EVERYONE that you need your meds on time every day. Take some with you in case the hospital pharmacy does not have it in stock.

My husband was diagnosed with PD 10 years ago. He's had two knee joint replacements. One in 2008 and one at the end of last year.

The first one (on the non effected Parkinson's side) was quite successful but the one last year not so. His knee is continually bent, his foot and lower half of his leg turns inward and he still suffers quite a lot of pain.

Saw his neurologist today and she says it could be partly to do with his PD meds causing dystonia.

As we all know, everyone with Parkinson's is different. I really hope your op is a success and you'll be out walking the dogs and riding the exercise bike again in no time!

Good luck.

Good luck and I echo those comments. Insist on good pain control. I'm happy with mine :)
