I have been having digestion problems. it seems as if my food isn't moving and its very uncomfortqble especially at night its also difficult to burp. Maybe its the food I eat. Anyone had this problem. I have been taking a lot of magnesium for constipation.

I'll address food moving and constipation. I start the day, before breakfast I drink two cups of water. Breakfast of insoluble fiber cereal as often as I can. I end the day by drinking two cups of water after dinner that includes a salad.

roypop, I was going to respond similarly. Drink as much water as possible and move as much as possible, run, walk, exercise. I start my day with lemon juice and honey with hot water with chia seeds and insoluble fiber mixed in. I try to include foods with lots of fiber, nuts, dried fruit and keep drinking water. Coffee and tea count as water as well.

When I was first diagnosed ten years ago I was told that I could anticipate that my PD would cause eventually a slowing down of the peristalsis, movement of the gut. Constipation would likely be an issue. I track this with my regular physician. Besides the usual fiber and water, etc......I take an occasional stool softener. Understand that other options (prescriptions) are available?

I find 2-3 Dulcolax tablets before I go to bed works. Cheers

Every night D and I have a Metamucil "cocktail". Works every time. Drink lots of water.

Is it just Metamucil?

I call it that and put it into a small glass to get him to drink it! I like it!

Do something that has nutritional value like chia seeds, you can get a big bag for less than 20, mine last a long time, and 1 T/day does it. Of course fresh food and exercise....When I feel really constipated and its usually from toxicity I do a colonic and feel much better.

Gastric Dismotility (sp?) a normal symptom of PD. The body (presumably) due to Dopamine shortage, is unable to consistently control movement through the gut (peristalsis)

your history of constipation and now feeling full all suggest not enough dopamine to keep your muscles working. I have experienced these problems and adjusting my medication solved it. Have you talked to your GP, the danger is of having a bowel blockage so please take care.

L-glutamine helps my husband. Maybe a little gas but it does the trick. Follows direction on 500mg bottle. He also uses glucomannon as a fiber with meals.

1 TBSP of organic, unsulphured, blackstrap molasses mixed with a full glass of warm water in the morning does it for me.
