The Wahls Protocol : A Radical New Way to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions Using Paleo Principles - Terry Wahls MD

Dr Terry Wahls suffered from multiple sclerosis and was wheel chair bound for a number of years until she began researching auto immune disorders and as a consequence radically changed her diet so that today she is essentially clear of the condition. She suggests it may work for other auto immune diseases.

Cheers

Research suggests it is partially responsible but it may be an end stage manifestation as opposed to a cause although some suggest it is a partial cause along with genes and the environment. Diet might make a difference just as it did for Terry Wahl. Worth a try anyway.

Has anyone in the Parkinson's community with Parkinson's disease tried the Paleo diet with any positive results? I would love to hear from you. Cheers

Intrested to know what dietry changes she made? Diet forms as much as 80% of what influences our health and am glad she got good results due to a healthy diet and is no more wheel chair bound. Harshad Kamdar

I am still waiting for her book but I believe she cut out sugar, dairy and gluten and consumed organ meats such as liver as well as lots of green, red and sulphur based vegetables such as onion and garlic. Cheers

She also took probiotics I believe (and may eat yoghurt) and one cup each of green (e.g. kale, spinach) red (e.g. tomatoes and capsicums) and sulphur based (e.g. onion, garlic and mushrooms) vegetables a day. Cheers

This interesting. Diet plays a huge role in how my meds behave with my Parkinson. I like to know the food used and not used. Thanks

Apart from what I have mentioned above I won't know more until I receive and read her book. Cheers

Hi folks, coming here from thyroid uk forum to update this link regarding Dr Wahl's Protocol.

There is a Tedx presentation on youtube which tells you the basic way of eating and why.

There is now also a book and last year a cook book.

Regarding its use for Parkinson's, Dr Wahl realised, through researching Parkinsons and other diseases that effect the brain, that Mitochondrial dysfunction was a feature of all of them, so set about trying to support her mitochondria. Initially she used supplements but then researched which foods to get the same nutrition from. The results are discussed in all the things I mention above.

The results are fantastic.

All the best :-)
