MAO B Inhibitors

Has anyone had any experience with increased light sensitivity from selegiline or Azilect? From what I can learn on Google, this is a common side effect from MAO B inhibitors.

I've had it from Parkinsons. Predated diagnosis. Never been on MAOB's.

I have had light sensitivity for many years. I have not heard of this being related to MAO-b inhibitors. My doctor blamed it on one of my blood pressure medications. My skin is very sensitive to the sun, especially my lips, which I have to protect very carefully. I wear prescription glasses, which are light sensitive and change to a dark shade in sunlight. I cannot see without some form of sunlight protection. I have not used MAO-b inhibitors for over ten years, but am still sensitive to bright light. As an aside, I have good night vision for driving. Maybe that is connected somehow.

Then another one says:

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors

More serious side effects may include:

Severe chest pain

Severe headache

Stiff, sore neck

Enlarged pupils

Increased sensitivity of eyes to light

Fast or slow heartbeat

Sweating, with or without fever or cold, clammy skin

Nausea and vomiting.

Both of these references list increased sensitivity to light as a "more serious" side effect.

As I don't need to take selegiline any more I don't need to do anything about the light sensitivity. However! I still cannot go outdoors in bright sunlight without eye protection. Is it possible that the affect is permanent?

I've been on Azilect for almost a year now. I'm not having any problems with light sensitivity.

I have been on Azilect for about 4 years and don't get any particular light senstivity - shows how individual drugs affect individuals so differently
