Vitamin E is a good example. Natural Vitamin E has several factors called tocopherols. There is d-alpha, d-beta-,d-gamma, d-delta and others. However, commercially prepared synthetic Vitamin E only has d-alpha tocopherol. Apparently if you take it, the d-alpha tocopherol crowds out any other Vitamin E factors which might be in your food. Nowadays when anyone mentions Vitamin E, it is assumed they are referring to D-alpha tocopherol only. Big Pharma, which opposes any potential for good coming from natural products, has sponsored several big studies on Vitamin E, all of which were on d-alpha tocopherol alone, which showed that taking Vitamin E is harmful. The Life Extension Foundation almost went beserk over this and published a lengthy refutation and commentary which should be available on their website. In short, if you take Vitamin E, make sure it is natural Vitamin E complex which has all the various Vitamin E factors.

i take co-enzyme Q10 300mg. It has made a big difference to me, not so tired. I also take a cheap and cheerful multi-vitamin tablet.

Have not noticed any adverse side effects.

i would check their sources-a good one needs to be plant based;;;;cheap is dangerous;;;you may not see obvious effects;;;do you feel better when you stop taking them?

Hi ive read a lot about supplements latley, i dont take any and my diet could be much improved. its a bit long winded but touches only the surface of the subject of supplements.

hope its of use and interest to some.

SUGAR

Can weaken immune systems and increases the chances of developing cancer. It can deplete B vitamins and essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Excesses of intake and diabetes, can result. .

VITAMINS

B vitamins and the B vitamin family numbers 27 In total

B vitamins are essential for many bodily functions, too many to list.

B- AWARE

-----A vitamin B deficiency OR SURPLUS can cause many problems, to little can contribute to developing neurological disease and to much can result in mimic of disease symptoms including PD.This is well documented. Vitamin B is a complex group and some elements are essential in the formation of Dopamine

DEFINE REFINE FORTIFY [what it means]

I always thought refine implied improved

The process covers sugars and flours. For example white sugar, has been stripped of essential B vitamins, so your body in turn draws them from other places — like nerves — to metabolize the refined sugars that have been eaten.[So the body creativley compensates at a consequence to itself]

We then cook the refined foods all their enzymes, and nearly all their vitamin, mineraL and fibre content already removed in processing

Ignorance is bliss, compromised health the price you pay to walk into the supermarket and potentially choose and pay to poison yourself. The manufacturers of course having refined ,then fortify products with synthetic vitamins and minerals.Fortify implies much but reality is synthetic replacments dont fool cells

Well being at cellular level is more than popping vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, in the recommend daily amount.

Think about it, for every action there is a reaction, the big picture is that one action is dependant on another and when things go wrong the body initiates compensatory strategies to patch or fix the problem.

To often we pass the book and head for the replacement strategies a multi vit or the latest promo, all readily available over the counter.Ignoring the unregulated and potential damaging use of some supplements. We are seldom hungry ,sometimes one episode of digestion hasnt finished before your stomach has more dumped into it.There is no suprise the body spends to much time detoxing cells at cost of repairing them.Fasting diets could be the solution,to initiating the process. Not as painfull as it sounds limited calories are allowed.,there is some good current reading on the subject available.

So! 'proceed with care 'just because you dont need a doctors approval doesnt mean its safe.If you choose to' heal yourself know your chemistry' or check it out with a professional.

Open your eyes and mind to helping yourself to feel well in your own unique circumstances.

Our nutritional profiles are all different, just as unique is our PD,common symptoms but different paths took us to the disease .

A common cure , I think not we are all different needing differing amounts of medication, this in itself makes the point, wether scientifically proven or not.

A question?

Were are the lab tests that analyse our nutrient levels and identify what needs a boost and what needs observing or withdrawl. With few exceptions they are not available and indeed if they exist not offered, routinley .You can get a cholesterol check but B vitamins, which can kill or cure, were is the test.

If one nations consumers spend 28 billion a year on supplements, thats big money, were not really helping ourselves, Your nutritional programme is unique to you,be it an apple or a big mac or a box of vitamins, your choice and your money an apple a day and a big mac at weekends who knows. If it works for you then good luck..

I think b vits are very important...i get mine from nuts and seeds and dried friut,,all soaked for 12 hours and rinsed. For the rest i just try my hardest to get supplements from naturpaths that i trust. For diet im following gudrun jonnson who wrote gut reaction. She believes that if you canget your gut right everything else will heal.
