I never had Shingles until I was diagnosed with PD and started meds. I immediatly got relief from a lot of stiffness and pain. But 2 weeks later I developed Internal Shingle and a week later the external Shingles appeared.

Does PD meds help or cause Shingles to appear.
It was my understanding that shingles were caused by a crash in the immune system. The virus which enters your body when you had chicken pox when you were a child, attacks the nerve endings causing pain.
I thought I had broken my ribs. Then the rash appeared.
My daughter and son also had the shingles. Different time and different places.
My mother had shingles and when I told my primary this she gave me a injection to keep me shingle free.
My first PD symptom, (Rhinitus) came to stay in the late 1970s, No further symptoms at that time. Several years ago I developed what I came to refer to as my "head virus". It would start as a dull pain over the right ear, move downward to eventually become a sore throat. Then it would fade away, only to start all over in a month or two. After a couple years of this, I got shingles. With the "help??" of prescribed medication, they eventually ran their course and went away. What all this is leading to is that, when the shingles departed, so did the "head virus". It never returned, but within a short time, PD took its place. If this proves nothing else, it shows that both diseases can co-habit the same brain and not come out till they overcome the body's defenses.
Please excuse me for the excessive verbage. I wrote in the hope that someone can make sense of it.
