3 reasons why I remain positive

Meet the 3 reasons why I remain positive about life as a parkie.....my children, twins Alfie & Alyssa ( aged 7 ) and Phoebe ( aged almost 5 )

I see them once a week since my divorce (married 12 yrs) and I love them so very very much....they are little bundles of energy :-)

They have all asked me "daddy why is your hand shaking like that?" and I tell them "there is something wrong in daddy`s brain which makes my hand shake but the doctors have given me some tablets to help stop it".......they go away happy with that and carry on doing what they do best......playing and generally causing mischief !! lol :-)

Beautiful children Andy! I worked in primary school as a bursar for several years until last summer - children are 1st class with their reality checks. My two children keep me in line ( 28 and 25).

Andy ,

lovely kids no wonder you are so positve and a grate guy, my kids are now 35, 34 and 28 , i have grand kids but iam not aloud to see them any more becuse of my PD ther farher is an ass , and will not let them see me in case theyget upset , he wants guarantees about my health , and will not let the kids get close to me incase i die, what a wanker

That is so horrible and cruel! My heart goes out to you. Hopefully, one day the parents will wake up and realize the wrongs they have done by denying their children time with their grandfather.

And that's your flesh and blood !

And who wiped their ass when they were little. YOU

What an idiot! My PD has not stopped me taking care of my two grandchildren, although at times it is hard. Due partly to getting older, I am sure. He needs to talk to someone to put him right about PD as what he is doing is not only wrong it is downright cruel. Children are very accepting and we could learn a lot from them. Good luck. Stay positive.

in reply to

I am so sorry for you. It must break your heart.

Praying things will change for the better.

Your grandkids father needs to man up, grow a pair and get some education about PD.......does he not realise how much he will be hurting them? My kids see their grandmother every week and she absolutely adores them and spoils them rotten!....sometimes it takes it out of her alot (she`s nearly 73) but she never ever complains.

Take care buddy and dont lose hope

That's disgusting.. Seeing our grandchildren really lifts my husband up. In fact he says to me lets go and see the grankids and get a grankid fix.

HE WILL GET HIS SOMEDAY AND I HOPE YOU WILL BE THERE TO OFFER SUPPORT BECAUSE YOU ARE A BETTER PERSON THAN HE..SOME HOW HE NEEDS TO REALIZE THAT WE ALL WILL DIE SOMEDAY, WITH AND WITHOUT PARKINSONS.......HE COULD ACTUALLY DIE LONG BEFORE YOU. MY BEST TO YOU. GAIL

keep up the jokes plz

love jill :-)

Omg Al that's awful! Children need a broad view on life - they can't be wrapped in cotton wool - but one day they will be old enough to make their own choices.

in reply to

its a bit crap, befor the grankids were born , Laraine and i bought them ther house , furneshed it bought them cars set them upin business and a lot more , it realy gets to me how some people can be so crule. but never mind carma is a wonderfull thing, sorry to burden this on you am just feelin a bit down just now

Al

in reply to

Al, I come from a family of Glaswegians, there is often conflict. You and Larraine have done your best for your family and they have to live with that. It sounds like they themselves are struggling with your illness and maybe need some more info ( don't want to sound patronising). People are ignorant towards PD sometimes which can develop into fear. I really hope things get sorted for you ((()))

in reply to

I was ignorant and fearful towards PD when told I had it.

Experience and this blog have been very helpful.

Thanks,

its just raw at the momment, i have al ways been the provider and now im a bit weak ,and people are trying to cash in on my disability,

Al

ps sorry Andy for gate crashing your blog

I can't think of anything more important than your 3 precious "reasons" to remain positive! Soak up every minute with them....time goes by so quickly. They are beautiful children, Andy!

ALSH: You did right, on their heads be it.

ANDY: Your staying positive is the greatest gift to them. My daughters are 19 and 22. THey know all about PD and are very considerate.

Andy, no wonder you're so positive, having 3 beautiful bairns!!

My son's 30,,,he's so patient with me and would do anything for me,,, but

Alsh,,, I know exactly where you're coming from,I've not been allowed contact with my only grandson for almost 8 yrs now. I hope I'm right to believe that he'll turn up one day, he's 12 now and knows where I stay,I live in hope. hugs to you and your wife, Wendy x

Hi Wendy

Thankyou and yes I hope your grandson finds you soon.....I`m sure he will as his curiosity grows stronger

Thank you for sharing the picture. Your daughters are precious. A dad means a lot to a girl as she grows up.

What beautiful, happy children. Divorce is never easy, but you could not have a better reason to face each day with hope. Enjoy every minute you spend with them as they grow up too quickly.
