A follow on from my question on stress.

One of the answers to this question asked why stress had such a marked affect on PD and I wondered if anyone had any ideas or hard answers to this question.

Maybe someone has some ideas that could help us understand the importance of stress and PD and have some tips on how to control stress levels. My experience at the hospital on Friday and my raised heart reading appears to be linked as when my heart beat was slowed my PD was controlled quickly. I find this interesting and have realised that PD symptoms appear to improve when I was on beta blockers.

Thought I had replied to this. Thanks for the link which I finally found. I live in the UK. There is some really interesting information in the summaries, which will take me some time to digest and understand. The one on Helibactor caught my eye as I have suffered from this for some time.

Like all of humanity, PD has combinations that make us all unique. We have common bonds to share, so I can only discuss my experiences with my spiderweb blancmange in my noggin’.

In the four years and more since my diagnosis when I fell from a respected solicitor/lawyer in a Brooklyn brownstone, engaged, and comfortable to living in a semi-detached bungalow, single, on benefits, looking at the glances, and whispers about me, so I can say from my experience stress can affect the quality of my life. There is no way in life that we can remove all of it. Life is life.

But like drinking too much, stress has a hangover that is far worse in PD with its cycle. There are ways, however, that we can diminish stress, and most of it costs nothing! Find support groups for yourself, and if you have a partner for them. Education and reaching out as you are is remarkably strong for you.

The medicine is out there. I have one pill of Citalopram I take daily that works for me. I could go for stronger, but I’m not keen on being more lofty than I already am. There are many methods, meetings, therapy, and the biggie. COMMUNICATION.

I’ve never experienced beta-blockers, but I will speak with some friends in our field of experience. If something is helpful I will pass on the information. I will hold you in my best wishes.

Thank you for your very useful answer. The more questions I ask the more new facts come to light. This site is a godsend and I hope I do not misuse it. The summaries mentioned above make very interesting reading as well. Thanks
