Hi all, I suffer from degenerative disc disease and depression. I have groin strain all the time. I have my benefits Tribuneral on Tuesday. I am in some amount of pain every day, but some days are worse than others. I can wake up some mornings ok and as soon as I try to get dressed my back or my hips goes. Every time I have a benefit hearing they don’t seem to care about what I have to go through every day mentally and physically!
Any advice for me regarding my Tribuneral??

Ensure they understand you are in pain every day. Talk about how much you struggle most days. Avoid talking about the few ok days you have. It will be that they latch on to if not careful.
The same thing has happened to me. My ESA stopped and I didn't know about it and I had bills to pay. They never wrote to me, I had to phone them and ask where my money was. I had an assessment on the phone. I have 6 illnesses and I can't work it is impossible but the decision maker said that I could so stopped my money. I have to appeal for it now. The problem is I have to get evidence of all my illnesses and it is impossible because the specialists don't write to people anymore with the outcomes. So now I have to pay my doctor to get a doctors note which will cost me about £60. Good luck at your tribunal just don't say anything positive about the good days you have because they will remember that and then they won't pay you anything.
Hi, I would write/type out a prompt for you, of a typical bad day, ensuring you let them know how much pain you are in. Don’t include your good days, as far as they are concerned, you don’t have any! On the tribunal day, think only of your bad days. It’s the same as filling in forms, you have to train your mind that it’s bad days only you want them to know. Good luck from the U.K. xx
It's like some on this forum state. Only talk about your bad days. Do not deviate from that at all. If you get help then talk about that. Talk about how it affects your mobility and stops you from completing household activities. Talk about how hard it is to stand and sit as well as getting in and out the chair. Talk about how you struggle to stand for long periods. Talk about the difficulty and pain it causes to access leisure activities. State you only do online shopping. If they ask you to get on that blasted bed say you cannot do it as it could cause you pain or further injury. Ensure you are aware of all around you as they like to film and follow everything you do.... Even when you're in the building waiting for them to call your name.
You should seek the help of a welfare worker at your local One Stop Centre or Cab. Good luck with it. Please let us know how you get on. 😍
Hi Jim.. I had all these issues before..aswell as health professionals playing god with their role and writing so many lies that I thot I had wrong report...you have to remember when they're asking you they're usually only really interested in the last 10...14 days...so you tell how bad your worst days are...not the OK ones cos as we know we can start out OK and end up ill by evening or earlier..its a huge problem here and I suppose most of us have a bad experience or 2 you'd think they were paying you direct..and usually we're to ill to fight but if you get knocked back make sure you fight it...if you can get a support worker or information centre to help you and defo someone to go with you...if I hadn't had my friend with me on that previous occasion you'd have that I done handstands at the meeting rather than hang over her desk in pain...Good luck..
