Hello I’ve been having intermittent chest pain in the left side for months now it started to get better. However now I noticed a lump in my upper right abdominal quadrant and am not sure what it might be. I had a stomach ct scan done results were normal however It showed that I have possible gastritis. Please if you can help me find out what my condition is I would appreciate it.

Hi I think you should make an appointment with your GP on Tuesday and ask for a CT or MRI scan. If it is painful or you are worried call 111 NHS Direct for advice as they will put you onto a doctor for advice today. Speculating on what your lump is won’t be helpful to you! Best wishes, Wendy

Hello thanks for answering as I mentioned I had a stomach ct scan done and the results were normal except for finding that I have possible gastritis. The area where the bump was was completely normal no beginner or malignant mass of any sorts is what the emergency room doctor told me.

It could be a hernia?

You need to get it checked out properly though.

So far all I’ve had done was a stomach ct scan and a urinalysis and both results came back normal except for the fact that I have possible gastritis. But as for the bump they told me no begnin or malignant mass of any sorts was there and not to worry about it should I trust the stomach ct scan result and the ER doctor’s words?

Well, I would trust the scan... Thing is if you are still worried, go back and ask again, that's what they are there for, don't sit at home and worry.

Hernias can cause a lump.

Let us know how you are...

To be honest I’m not too worried about it since a stomach ct scan is a very detailed scan so I highly doubt they would’ve missed something concerning. I’m reassured it’s nothing serious if they said so but I will schedule an appointment with my primary care doctor just for a proper follow up.

Question wouldnt a hernia be able to be detected in a stomach ct scan if so then I can rule that out right?

Please have you found a solution yet? I have the same condition. Even MRI detected nothing. Please let me know

I agree that only a doctor can diagnose. But is the lump soft and movable, and under the skin in the fat layer? Or does it feel like it is muscle or tissues from below the muscle coming through? Thinking about this before you phone for an appointment with your GP might help.

It feels like it’s directly under the skin it’s soft and hard at the same time like a mushy muscular feeling. And no it’s not moveable. Also I should mention that I had a stomach ct scan done and a urinalysis both results came back normal. Unrelated to the bump the stomach ct scan showed that I have possible gastritis but as for the bump there was nothing there of any sorts no mass, no cancer growth, no disease nothing, so they said it’s most likely a pulled muscle strain. What do you guys think?

I just wondered if it could be a lipoma?

Oh I never saw that thank you and it probably is but I don’t want to guess that just leads to overthinking and worrying and anxiety. I’m just glad and thank God it’s nothing serious. And that I am able to rule out anything serious due to the stomach CT scan result and rheburinalysis I feel more reassured if that makes sense.

You’re very fit! I’m thinking a hernia. The stomach pushes up into the diaphragm. Which looks like the case. If you have gastritis or acid reflux it would bother you. Very low acid diet no coffee small meals. Read up on it. You may need to alter your workout routine. If you youtube working out with hiatial hernia you may find that helpful. A scope inside your tummy would be more useful. You have to be careful bending and lifting stuff. Try the link below

Thank you so much. But I just wanted to clear some things up the bump is in my upper right quadrant not my left so I don’t think it’s my stomach so that might rule out that it’s a hietal hernia. And secondly I had a stomach CT scan done when I had the bump. It checked the inside of my stomach for the bump and there was nothing there whatsoever they said no growth, begin mass or malignant mass of any sorts so that’s really reassuring.

Ok. I guess just watch it and keep your diet good since you have gastritus it’s a real long time effort to clear it up. Who knows try not to worry and see if it goes down. Best luck

It could be anything, including a 'lipoma' a lump of fat that grows in your body’s soft tissues. Though it’s classified as a tumor, it’s usually harmless. However, I suggest you go see a doctor.

Yeah I will most definelty good news so far is at the ER they said my stomach CT scan results was normal so there’s nothing serious or concerning to worry about so that’s really reassuring.

I had this. It was from chronic cholecystitis and gallstones. Nothing showed up on cat scan nor ultrasound. Basically got sicker and sicker until I was vomiting and nauseated daily and had upper left abdominal pain(not the usual side for gallbladder issues) Upper right abdominal lump appeared once symptoms worsened. Finally asked for a referral to a surgeon who agreed to remove gallbladder on symptoms only. Thank God because I am way better now!!
