Does tramadol affect the quality of sperm count.. I'm curious because I've been trying to impregnate my wife for couple of months now, but it's not working.. I wanna know if tramadol is among the reason this is happening to us

Hi TYmax

First, Wow. Secondly, you have asked if Tramadol could affect the quality of your sperm. It can take a long time to get pregnant and it happens to many of us. I think the question you want to know is if Tramadol can affect the quantity of the sperm you produce. Your GP can help you. Easy tests. You will need to give a sperm sample. It will tell you both 'quality and quantity' of your sperm. If that is ok then learn your wife's body clock. When she ovulates she will get a white sticky residue, it takes about seven plus or minus days to fertilise an egg. Of course, there are many variable to this simplistic view and today they have appliances that your wife can use to monitor when she starts ovulating. That is when you get the urgent phone call to came home. I think it is unlikely Tramadol is the cause but you have not mentioned if you take other meds. Good luck and visit your GP. You don't need to spend thousands with specialists at this early stage as these are basic tests your Doctor can do for you. Love to you both and good luck. Anna

I know it was a typo but I always get concerned that I may get into trouble for offering such advice. I have been on Tramadol for years for chronic back pain. It is a synthetic opiod that acts on pain receptors. I feel it will happen for you both. Anna

Not sure about "tramadol" specifically BUT i do know "stress" of trying to have a child could affect getting pregnant.

U always hear stories of people that try n try n then when they stop the magic happens.

Best to u n ur wife😁

Thanks Mr/Mrs.. My wife is the one feeling depressed Because of it.. and I'm on tramadol meds 200mg a day. That's why I wanted to find out if my mend is making my sperm not able to fertilize her..

in reply to TYmax

Tell her..totally understandable to be depressed about it BUT focus on good foods ur eating,no stress..n good things will come to u both.Put good energy out in the universe n u will both be rewarded.😊

It might not be the tramadol, it could also be the reason why you are taking tramadol. There is a link between inflammation and fertility, although it is usually reversible. So if you have a rheumatological condition that causes inflammation that could also be affecting sperm production.

So it is probably a good idea to discuss this with your clinicians.

And never give up. It took us 6 years for me to get pregnant!

Aww I know how you feel,me and my hubby was trying for two years (tryed everything-ovulation test to see when I ovulate ever month ,eating healthy, taking vitamins etc ,the heart ache every month ,when period starts ,in the end I gave up ,I thought it’s not going to happen so I stopped trying to get pregnant, and to my surprise I am 12 weeks pregnant now (and I was on a lot of medication, one of them was tramadol )

Wow.. thanks for your words of encouragement.. do you mind if I ask During the 12 weeks of pregnancy were you seeing your period?

Hey TYmax, It is most unlikely that blood appears once a woman in pregnant. Although it can happen. Generally, seeing blood or blood spots in the virgina during pregnancy regardless of the duration would indicate that you make an urgent visit to your GP so he can check things out.

God Bless you both and keep asking questions. Anna
