Problems going to the toilet

Hi. Can anyone help. I am having trouble doing a pee. I cant get started when I do get started very little comes out. I cant empty my bladder. I have like a metalic taste coming up to my throat and mouth. Is this anything to do with taking pregablin ?? Is it to do with existing lower back pain 8months. Had m.r.i.and g.p said nothing showed up.i feel unwell but g.p said they are too busy and I should drink more fluid. I am drinking lots of fluid. I eat healthy I dont drink alcohol!!!!!!.Has anyone any ideas ????

I don't know how old you are but have you had a prostate test?

I am 51 no not had a prostate test. And impossible to get any kind of appointment at the moment

Then call surgery. This could be urgent. You may have an enlarged prostate

If you are unable to wee, then phone GP, 111 or if you feel really unwell with it 999. It is imperative that we all wee every day, and, indeed, several times a day.

You may suffering from UTI or prostate enlargement. PL.get checked immediately to avoid further complications.

Keep onto your gp, ask nhs app or 111....whatever it needs investigation and soon.....may only be a UTI but they can soon escalate to being quite serious......I had a telephone consultation with my gp yesterday and he told me they were not in the main dealing with COVID-19, and are able to focus on 'normal' illnesses....keep at them.

Ask the Doctor to prescribe you Bendroflumethiazide as I had the same problem and now have to take it once a day, marvellous!!

Hi John, have you had scan on your neck , do you have pain or tingling anywhere , I have pain in my lumbar spine at bottom but it comes from my neck , your bladder do you keep going back to toilet , what are your bowel movements like .

Thanks. Yeah I have pain in my lower back for 6months I got lower spine m.r.i scan but nothing showed up. My bowel movements are fine

Your doctor said he/she is too busy and you should drink more water "wow"! Not passing urine to resemble the amount your drinking/eating can be dangerous and downright painful if your on the verge of a blockage .....This happened to me 17yrs ago when I had to drink 4-32 ounce bottles of water hold myself so they could measure the speed/rate my urine came out (I was having bladder issues) and I ended up as emergency and spent 2 weeks walking around with a bladder bag .....I had and ovarian tumor pressing on my bladder tube, which caused all my bladder issues.

Sorry you need to go in and get check if you in fact are having difficulties peeing...

Hi John , you can get pain anywhere in your back and believe it or not it can come from your neck if a disc is pushing on the cord.

I have the same problem,am female. Following a chest infection and my legs swelling and painfuldue to much reduced urine ou tput. I was given 40mg of Ferusomide. this did not help so the dose was upped to 80mg. Blood tests now show kidney function has gone from 68 count to 28. Ferusomide stopped and more blood tests to follow. there seems to be no reason for not pasing urine. The need to go is very strong though. POLLY x

Hello there. Please get yourself a PSA test, as could be prostate problem. Could be just slightly enlarge prostate, but do get a test.
