Constant pain & blood results

So I’ve spent the past 4 years in constant pain with my right hip and have been on codeine 30mg/500mg for the same amount of time.

I recently had a labs worth of blood tests done, with the doctor’s receptionist coming back to me with ‘vitamin D deficiency’ and a years prescription of 20,000 ui Vit D3.

I’ve request a copy of my blood results and noticed a few other things that have been flagged.

My CRP is 16mg/L where the norm is 0.00 - 5.00mg/L

My ESR is also 25mm/h. Both of these are inflammatory flags but my doctor hasn’t mentioned these as a concern, considering I have joint issues.

My pain is now spreading to my ankles, wrists and neck and affecting day to day tasks. I’ve also been experiencing uncontrollable fatigue these past couple of years.

Does vitamin D deficiency really cause all this or should I be pushing for a more thorough diagnosis?

Edit: I forgot to add that my lymph nodes are always up and swollen. Even when I’m feeling well.

What's your serum ferritin level?

Just wondering because your symptoms are similar to some people who have Haemochromatosis.

Mine are 126ng/ml

Fair enough. That's not high considering the amount of inflammation indicated by ESR and CRP.

I would request another appointment with my GP, to address these concerns. There may be a valid reason why your GP didn't note your concerns, although I don't know what.

I would go back to gp and ask for a rheumatology referral

You haven't mentioned your age but do a Google search for polymyalgia Rheumatica. It typically effects people 50s and older but on rare occasions it has ejected people younger.

You may have a compromised immune system and need to "jump-start" it, which is simple to do.

About 25 years ago, for many months I was constantly tired, I couldn't work at my home-office desk for more than half an hour without needing to take a nap. Then a client of mine suggested taking "Elderberry Extract" and I did. I took 2 oz after dinner and 2 oz the next afternoon after lunch. That day I was full of energy and it found me outside repairing the back roof; it was amazing; I haven't had a fatigue problem since. Another story; my sister told me that when she got home from work every day she didn't have the energy to do anything but go to sleep. After taking the elderberry extract she was up and about and hasn't had that fatigue since. There are many stories like this.

You can get the elderberry extract in many places, but the one that works best is Sambucus, which you can get at the following link or elsewhere:

iherb.com/pr/Nature-s-Answe...

Ignore the dosage instructions on the bottle for immune system "maintenance", it doesn't work to jump-start your immune system; you need to take 2 oz in the evening and 2 oz the next day to jump-start your immune system. Mixing it in a glass of water makes it easier to swallow.

If the elderberry extract works...great, if not, you can rule out a weak immune system as the cause of your fatigue problem.

I have had R-hip pain for the last 35 years, and as one gets older and my muscles get weaker the pain is more prevalent.

After 28 years of seeing chiropractors (which was like a pain-killer more than a cure) I started using "Trigger Point Therapy" in 2008. Trigger points develop when muscles get fatigued (weak) and form a "knot" in the affected muscle that pulls on its tendons, pulling the bones out of their normal healthy positions and causing joint pain. This pain is sometimes incorrectly diagnosed as arthritis and even fibromyalgia and is the main cause of my gout pain.

The muscles typically involved with hip pain are the pectineus, adductors-longus, adductors-brevis, and tensor fasciae lathe muscles. To remove the trigger points in these muscles you need to get the "Trigger Point Therapy Workbook, 3rd addition" to show you where to find these trigger points and deal with them. This can be found on line or at the following link:

amazon.com/Trigger-Point-Th...

This therapy has resolved my hip, lower back and gout problems when applied multiple times daily until the pain is gone. Unfortunately, due to unhealthy daily habits, these trigger points come back and need to be removed, but once you know what to do it is resolved quickly.

I had PCa for eleven years with metastatic bone cancer. My bones were weakened and I had 3 injections of Xgeva over a year and a half. I no longer have cancer, but my Vit D3 level was 14 and should be over 30. I was given 50,000 Units of Vit D3 injection twice a week for 8 months now and my level is 27 now. It turns out that there is a "reservoir" of Vit D3 that must be refilled. Also, the hypothalamus is involved and Calcium levels are also involved. I have hip bone pain when I try to stand up and when I walk too far. It is getting better but very slowly. Do you have bone loss on that side in the bones? Do you understand about osteoclasts (build up bones and osteoblasts (break down bones)? Your bones are built up and torn down all the time by these cells in your bones. Xgeva helps build up and strengthen your bones, so talk to your doctor.
