Fatigue

Suddenly I’ve been feeling so so tired whilst doing nothing. I’m sat and suddenly feel so tired and sleepy and need to sleep. My sugars are fine diabetes wise. And I’ve eaten normal gluten wise. I don’t know why this can be. Does anybody understand where I’m coming from or experienced the same

Have you had your thyroid tested ? fatigue is one of the main symptoms.

in reply to bantam12

Yes bantam12 I’ve had my thyroid tested recently and was fine

Unfortunately when results come back within range they are said to be "fine and normal" but that doesn't always mean optimal, your TSH could be within range but to high and your T4 and T3 could be to low but still within range, I would suggest you get a copy and post your results on ThyroidUK for advice.

Could it be fibromyalgia?

There is an excellent group here on HU. Perhaps post there and ask other members?

Hi SID123,

I feel constantly tired as well and attribute it to neuropathy zapping my energy.

I walk my dog four times a day to keep in slight shape and need to lay down from the extra pain right away when i get back. Overall, exercise will energize our bodies and help ward off depression.

Have a beautuful day !

Have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia as that makes me extremely tired on occasions or thyroid trouble just a thought for you to question your GP about

in reply to Soxie

Hi soxie no I’ve not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Do you feel constantly tired with that?

Yes i do hope you get good advice from g.p. gentle hugs

Went through this before and it lasted about 3 weeks, was just knackered the whole time. Docs couldn't find anything because by the time I saw a doc I was feeling better but they reckon my immune system was fighting something and that's why I was so tired.

I put my extra tiredness down to my painkillers but I do have lung problems which can cause fatigue if you overdo it and flare the condition. So do take the illness you have into account and pain can really drain a person.

Hello, You say your thyroid tests have come back normal, but can I ask that the dr check your neck for around your thyroid please

8 years 10 months ago I was suffering with fatigue which got worst over 4-5 months my thyroid levels were all ok the dr said but they did not pick up I had a small lump on my right side of thyroid gland and this was one of the reasons and start of my chronic fatigue , if necessary see a different doctor in the practice for them to look at your symptoms they might have more knowledge

Hope you get sorted soon

I have now learnt that fatigue is part of my life, it gets very bad sometimes but I take that my body is telling me to rest, make sure first there is no medical reasons for your fatigue and if it is your conditions then listen to your body and rest, you will find you will pass this. hopefully you will find the reason, gentle hugs

I do get times when I realy cold go to sleep during the day, often that might be broken sleep at night or I need to eat...sometimes blood sugar can drop from being hungry or if someone's had a fair amount of carbs , say for lunch, that could result in a spike of energy followed by a feeeling of being tired a few hours aftewards. Or just inactivity.

Might be a silly question but when during the day does this happen?

It happened yesterday afternoon n today after breakfast I was already feeling like that

SID123:

It sounds like you (and some of the people responding here) are suffering from a compromised immune system; it happens especially when you are distressed for long periods. Basically, you need to jump-start your immune system.

About 25 years ago, for many months I was constantly tired, I couldn't work at my home-office desk for more than half an hour without needing to take a nap.

Then a client of mine suggested taking "Elderberry Extract" and I did. I took 2 oz after dinner and 2 oz the next afternoon after lunch. That day I was full of energy and it found me outside repairing the back roof; it was amazing; I haven't had a fatigue problem since. Another story; my sister told me that when she got home from work every day she didn't have the energy to do anything but go to sleep. After taking the elderberry extract she was up and about and hasn't had that fatigue since. There are many stories like this.

You can get the elderberry extract in many places, but the one that works best is Sambucus, which you can get at the following link or elsewhere:

iherb.com/pr/Nature-s-Answe...

Ignore the dosage instructions on the bottle for immune system "maintenance", it doesn't work to jump-start your immune system; you need to take 2 oz in the evening and 2 oz the next day to jump-start your immune system. Mixing it in a glass of water makes it easier to swallow.

If the elderberry extract works...great, if not you can rule out your immune system as the cause of your fatigue problem.

Can it affect any medications eg thyroid, calcium etc

I not heard of this I was told mine was because I no longer have a thyroid and that the thyroxine runs out by lunchtime , I’m on t3 too, but I’m still sleeping 4 hours every afternoons and some nights I sleep some nights I don’t sleep it depends if I’d overdone it or if my pain worst

It is a fruit extract and unless you have an autoimmune problem, it probably won't hurt you, but life's not perfect.

It might not help you with your thyroid problems anyway: me, I would probably try it if I had your problems...I'm not big worrying about trying new things.

Are you base in the United Kingdom ??

Is the dose still the same in the uk as the site not pounds

I'm in Buffalo, NY, USA.

The extract is in a 2 oz liquid bottle.

I don't understand the pounds comment; the manufacturer Sambucus sells it in 4 oz bottles.

Have you been tested for iron deficient anaemia. B12 and fit D. I have Hashimotos and often get extremely tired, plus RA, my ferritin levels had dropped well below range so have been on ferrous sulphate for 3 months and feel so much better. Not and easy med to take so I insisted I took one tablet every other day, plus upped my iron rich diet. I hope you find a solution for you. X

Hermes123.

I have suffered fatigue for donkey's years, these days it is usually about 3.pm till 5.pm my eyes begin to close and nothing will stop then, except my wife just does not grasp the situation its a medical condition, not as she puts it, your lazy your always sleeping at the end of two hours she shouts at me to wake up, there is nothing worse as she see's me fighting to keep my eyes open and comments on it. It's the same with the pain! It's like I cannot see it so it cannot be there. Hermes.
