I’ve just joined this forum today after suffering from pains in my upper right quadrant - which radiate into my back - for around the last three weeks.
The pains are not severe, and tend to only be present after eating, and so, because I don’t have any symptoms other than those, I am assuming I have Pancreatitis.
I am seeing my doctor (again) on Tuesday after first seeing him last week, which stage I was assuming my problems were drink related. I was terrified then that I had either cirrhosis or liver cancer - the latter of which my father died of, though this was secondary to cancer if the pancreas - which is the thing that I am terrified I have now.
I stopped drinking completely two weeks ago, and am now at a complete loss as to how I can lift myself out of this, and recover my health, and ever be happy again.
Could anytime out there offer me any help, please?

I had an ultrasound last Friday, and was told they couldn’t see anything wrong. I was surprised that I was told anything on the day, but that’s what the nurse said.
Sorry you are struggling so much. Could you make an appointment with your Dr to discuss your ultrasound? I thought the radiologist wasn't allowed to say what they saw. Best wishes Lynne
I was surprised, too, but can only repeat what she said, and it was that my liver looked “absolutely fine” and that she “couldn’t see any gallstones at all”...
I’m seeing my GP on Tuesday, and I suppose all will be revealed then.
I've always been told what's been seen at the time of the scan, usually get more info from the sonographer than the docs ! My last scan showed a big gallbladder polyp which the tech said needs to be monitored with regular scans yet my Consultant never mentioned it !
3 years ago I had an ultrasound and she said oh, it's just a bit of a fatty liver. When I'd had MRI etc was told nafld and then was told we had better do a biopsy which I was then told I had Nash!! Sorry, I don't want to worry you but that was my experience. When I've had a colonoscopy or gastroscopy I've been told the results on the day except of course for biopsies. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
That's ok I'm not worried, I've had whacky liver enzyme results for over 10 years, lost count of the ultrasounds, MRI's and biopsies and they can't find anything, think I'm just odd !
Hi Graham B8 February 2017 i was rushed into hospital in spain has we were on holiday and i was diagnosed with pancreatitis and i was very ill i was hooked up to machines and drips ect and i could never understand why i had got this has i don't drink at all but the Spanish doctor told me herds spice ect can start it of i was in hospital iver a week .
From then on ive suffered with stomach problems and even been admitted here but it was never my pancreas and all the test ive had here they could not find anything wrong and put it down to my digestive system so perhaps this is what your suffering with i would explain everything to your doctor again and if need ask to see someone else good look
Could it be your ileocecal valve? Try taking chlorophyll for a month and see if it helps.
It may be your gall bladder. Avoid deep fried fish and fatty meats like sausages. Pau darco tree bark from South America can help you digest food better IF it is your gallbladder.
