Endless abdominal pain

I've been struggling with abdo pain a long time. Between my IBS and my chronic pain syndrome, it can be pretty bad. But nothing prepared me for the last 3 months. I eat anything, I vomit, or I'm in agony or both! My dietician and GP have both admitted defeat but helped me get my gastro appointment brought forward to next week. I'm trying desperately to find ways to deal with the pain so that I can eat a little more. I'm trying to avoid needing a feeding tube but I'm eating so little...

So, I guess I need some moral support to get through the next week and perhaps some non-drug ways of dealing with this pain? (It's not the I'm opposed to drugs, I just know that for various reasons I can't have anything besides the pregabalin I already take)

How long have you been taking pregabalin?

Do you take any NSAID meds?

Oh, over 5 years now. Been on the max dose for about a year. And no NSAIDs, my stomach doesn't play well with those at the best of times!

Well that rules those out.

Are you sick when you eat anything in particular? I know you said you can eat anything. My husband has chronic IBS and we have eliminated fizzy drinks. It has helped a little

Right now there isn't much I haven't eliminated. I know I'm lactose intolerant, but all that I can eat with any hope of keeping it down is jelly and biscuits. Fluids are just as rough. Clear fluids are largely okay, anything milky but lactose free like my ensure plus I can manage small amounts very slowly. Anything acidic, anything greasy and anything stodgy are absolutely no go.

Hi

Sorry you are feeling so rotten. Please let me know how you get on next week. Take care Lynne

There is a saying, 'If you can't connect the issues, think connective tissues'. There is a condition called Ehlers-Danlos and many people, mostly with hypermobile EDS, have problems with chronic pain and IBS. It is a condition that is often misdiagnosed. It might be worth looking into that if you haven't already.

Have you been tested for Gastroparesis, as those are the classic symptoms. there is no cure but medication helps and also going on a liquid only diet. You have to have a nuclear medicine scan which involves eating food like cornflakes or scrambled egg dosed with a radioactive dye which is then x-rayed for hours afterwards to see how the food moves. It is painless. I hope that you do not have that as I have it severely and it is life changing. But you should query whether you have it. Good luck.

It's already been checked and done but I'm just waiting for the results.
