Hello, I have spinal canal stenosis and periodic limb movement disorder. 2 doctors have given me prescriptions for Lyrica. One for nerve pain, one for PLMD. I tried 75mg at night and hated how I felt the next morning. The doctor has given me a prescription for 25mg at night. Has anyone else tried this? Is it worth it, will it help and will side effects be minimal with a small dose??? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Hello,

I have taken Lyrica for nerve pain which I developed after spinal decompression surgery. Unfortunately the surgery in my case was not successful despite creating more space in the canal area by cutting away bone and fusion two adjacent vertabrae. The spine and the nerves do not like to be messed with and surgery should be used as a last resort. Unfortunately too many doctors and clinics are offering back surgery like it is a root canal procedrue. It is far more serious. Getting back to Lyrica. Lyrcia is about the first drug (also gabapentin) that doctors prescribe to patients with nerve related pain due to just about anything. It seems to work for people with diabetic neuropathy which I believe was the original indication. It is worth a try for you. The side effects will be strong during the first 2 to 3 weeks of start. Just try to realize that and get through it. Record how you feel during the day and night while on it and see if it helps. If after a few months or longer, it is not helping, then you have to wean off very slowly. I hope it works for you, there is no way to know until you try. It did not work for me, and I weaned off. The doctor put me on cymbalta which is also used for nerve pain. Good luck. Jt

youtu.be/KoWLyllBi5s If youre able to view this, it says it all about Gabapenton, Neurontin and Lyrica. Points out how it causes dementia and other serious illness. Do not take these drugs. They are dangerous and big pharma lies about their drug trials on them. Please do the research.

Hi , I am so sorry that you're dealing with this issue. Lyrica did not help me at all. Mainly because I couldn't stand how it made me feel. I was unable to function the next morning. In order for me to take it, I would have to take my meds about 5 pm so that the medication would have enough time in my system without causing me to feel like a zombie the next morning. I have also started taking a magnesium supplement which is great for nerve pain and helping with hypertension.

I personally hated lyrica. I mostly remember a fog with breakthrough pain and weight gain that lasted for weeks and weeks, but every medication works differently for each person. good luck to you!
