Very possibly due to a very slow or fast heart rate. Certainly many other possible causes. You should see your doctor and request a Holter monitor which will document or rule out this possibility.

when ever its happened i have got medical attention straight away most of my friends work in the industry and help best they can and ive never had a elevated or lower heart rate than normal we have ruled it out for now but were thinking about other problems such as exhaustion because last time it happens i was at work so it is a possibility

You mention heart rate but not blood pressure. I had blackouts as a teenage because of low blood pressure. Don't have either of these condition now.

Dehydration as someone else mentioned could be another possibility.

Have you spoken with your doctor to let him know you are concerned about this happening again. You really need to know what is triggering this because it can happen anytime examples driving a car, just walking down stairs it could be very dangerous. Please find out what is going on.

My husband a long time ago he would pass out but it would start with him having a coughing fit then he would pass out I can’t remember what it was well I shouldn’t say that he use to drink so many cups of coffee during the day and I can remember that was part of it. They also put him on a heart monitor for 24 hours and that came up with nothing. But I do know that after stopping the coffee he stopped having the coughing fits. I also remember with the coffee he was getting dehydrated. That is probably not happening to you but you may want to think what else is going on like eating, drinking now you know I’m NO DOCTOR but just wanted to pass that along to you.

I do hope you find out what is going on because one time my husband passed out I was lucky that his father was there because he almost landed into a tree.

Be careful.

I have unexplained blackouts. I've had 2 nasty falls because I was crossing the road one time and the other time I was walking downstairs. I was advised not to drive until I saw a neurologist but he was unable to discover any medical reason for what had happened. Like you, I worry about it happening again and I do feel vulnerable when I'm out.

i know what you mean its a awful feeling because you just end up thinking if and when as well as were it is going to happen luckily enough it hasn't happen by any stairs yet so i think i should count myself lucky... do you ever get any injuries from it i get slight pain in my neck and back the doctor said it will probably be something like whip lash because i am 6ft 3inch so ive got a bit of height and plenty of weight behind me witch doesn't help

When I fell crossing the road I broke a finger and when I fell down some stairs I damaged some ligaments in my ankle. I do wonder if it was also the start of my shoulder/neck problems but I guess I'll never know. The pain was first put down to fibromyalgia, then I was told that I have impingement in the shoulder and then I was told that it is the arthritis in my neck that is causing the pain.

Blood pressure monitors are relatively cheap (40 USD). I bought an Omron and the readings matches the unit that my doctor has in his office. It displays the two pressure readings and the pulse.

Do you get dizzy if you stand up too fast? That was my indication of low blood pressure.

ill look into buying a bp monitor... ive never had any of these problems occur from just standing up to fast it just seems to happen at first i thought that might be a cause but no it only really happens when im stood up for anything over four hours

I want you to know it wasn’t his heart that was ok the monitor showed everything was alright.

One doctor told him to cut his coffee down which he did the man would have 5+coffees a day now he’s cut them out all together. This happened over 20 years ago but yours could be something totally different.

I hope you find out soon, his only lasted a few months but let me tell you those were one of the scariest times.
