Hello, I’m new and thought I would finally start sharing, I’m 48 and have had chronic pain for many years, I’ve had my shoulder replaced, my knee replaced, 2 back surgeries, I had L4-L5-S1 fused and a year later I had to have 6 screws and 3 rods removed from my back because the titanium screws in S-1 broke. I’ve had so many surgery’s I’ve lost count, I’m still in severe pain and trying to cope, I’ve been on pain medicine for over 3 years. I have anxiety and depression, I just try to get by day by day. Sorry to go on and on. Thank you for reading.

Hi Gregger I’m ssdw1958 I was diagnosed with MS in 2004 and also have raynards, kidney stones but I do have to say my legs Arnt the best they work somewhat during the day but at night they can be so bad I need my wheelchair.

I do have to say I know that MS is really bad because I have it but what you have isn’t that good either.

Hi Gregger - sorry to hear of your plight. I've recently acquired chronic pain, both in my back and in my hip (much less issues than yourself) but met a very helpful physio who pointed me in the direction of this guy - Lorimer Moseley. I've started to do some research. He's done a number of youtube videos which at least give an understanding of pain and how it works. i found it helpful (but still researching how best to manage my issues)- here's a link to one of his talks. There are many others.....

Interesting talk. However, totally ignores behaviour of muscles tightening on nerves. Or muscles going into contraction and remaining contracted.

Spinal reflexes feed back into muscle behaviour. Muscle behaviour elicits a response. The ignoring of muscle behaviour by many neurologists leads to a lot of people not receiving the right treatment for chronic pain.

Worth having a look at:

A Randomized Clinical Trial

Worth seeing an Alexander Teacher. They may be able to help with your chronic pain.

I have many health issues as well and can understand how your feeling. Chronic pain is hard as it's not something you can see, like you would see a broken arm, and people aren't as understanding of something the cannot see. I have been on pain Meds for over 10 years now and I know that if I forget to take them I'm crippled by the pain and cannot function at the simplest tasks. It's not just the pain but the way it changes your whole life that is so hard to cope with at times. I still have times where I struggle just to get out of bed as I can't see the point of getting up. Other people can be so judgemental but something keeps me fighting on. It's nice to know that you can always post on here and people, hopefully, won't judge you for needing to talk or to just put how your feeling into words. Sometimes it's nice to hear from people in similar situations. Sometimes someone can say something here that is helpful to your own situation and that no one has ever told you before.

I have said before to other people I know that have MS about someone who keeps on saying. You don’t look 👀 sick. I want to say to them if you could only see what I can see.

It is so true know one really knows how you are feeling only others that have been and are going down the same road that you are on.

And we all know that this road is full of potholes.
