Yes I have it....at first was mild so I ignored it, then one morning I woke up and lay in pain for about an hour . The pain was spreading from my chest up into my neck and shoulder, I thought it was a heart attack. The Dr did an ECG and some routine checks and told me that it's inflammation of the chest wall and prescribed ibuprofen. That was about three months ago but I still get it sometimes, though not as bad. I've stopped taking tablets for it and now take a shot of tumeric, ginger, cinnamon , lemon and hot water as it's a natural anti inflammatory. Seems to be helping a bit

yep me too!!!! I was initially diagnosed with it 17 years ago and frustratingly it has become chronic pain. Although that is rare.

I haven't come across many people who have experienced this type of pain and its frequently misunderstood.

Certain positions make it worse so I use a bolster pillow at night to wrap my arms around when sleeping to keep my chest in a comfortable open position and my hot water bottle is my best friend.

For most people if you take adequate pain medication, use heat/cold and look after yourself it usually clears up.

I am guessing you have had your heart traced at some point (ECG etc) as its the first thing they do when you mention chest pain. If not ask for one so you can reassure yourself in the middle of the night.

Take Care

Hey guys!! Yes have had all the tests done, ECG on my heart around 8 times , blood tests twice and recently a cat scan on my heart and lungs. All came back negative for any abnormalities. So do i think i can be reassured my doctor is right and its costochondritis lol?

With sleeping i find two pillows are enough, but i put a pillow in between my legs to support my back. Doesn't really help with this pain though xx

You are not alone with this and it is extremely painful. I have found that Pregablin takes that top edge of it. I have actually found a hot water bottle makes mine worse as it is inflammation and freeze gel helps soothe it. So gentle stretching exercises, dont carry anything heavy and a soak in an Epsom salt bath can help.x
