Chronic Migraines - finally a diagnosis!!

Hi everyone,

I’ve not posted on here for a while, but when I have it’s been about my awful headaches I’ve been having for 6+ years now with no doctors I’ve seen knowing what may be the cause. As well as scans coming back clear.

After a lot of waiting I went to see a specialist in Hull today (I was referred there by the specialist I was under at my local hospital)

After having a examination done (eyes following the finger, reflex tests etc) and answering a few questions they finally think they know what the headaches may be!

Chronic Migraines!!

I was wondering, for those of you who may suffer from this, what are your coping mechanisms / strategies? As I’ve yet to find anything that works (apart from sleep but I can’t sleep all day!!)

Thanks 😊

I went from occasional migraines with aura for 40+ years to chronic migraine with visual auras once or twice a day for months. I am now taking Propranolol ER every day and Frova when an aura starts only a few times a month most of the time. Generic Frova (Frovatriptan) and OTC Frova did not work. Frova is expensive and I needed to go through a pre-approval process to be able to get it. I don't think it's on the Medicare's formulary but it was on the GIC supplementary Medicare insurance formulary through my husband's employer. I had a lot of complications continuing my previous medications when our supplementary insurance was changed but I think that was the process that applied to getting Frova. Hope you find something that works for you.
