Onset Delay with Percocet/OxyContin

I've been taking Percocet and OxyContin for about a year now. I've noticed in the past couple of weeks that these medications take longer than normal to kick in; sometimes almost three hours.

This is all independent of my tolerance for the medication; I've seen the research and charts that indicate that both of these medications should reach therapeutics levels in the bloodstream 45-60min after administration, but I've noticed feeling no relief at all (and sometimes wondering if I took the wrong pill, or imagined it entirely), before it finally kicks in.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anybody know what may be causing this delay?

I am also on Percocet/OxyContin and it's been over five years the more pain I'm in the less the medicine works. The more active I am less my medicine works. Sorry I'm still not sure why.

This is to be expected. Pain killers desensitise the body to further damage of the damaged part. So over a period of time the greater damage requires greater amount of pain killer to quieten the complaining damaged tissue.

Internal injury creates scar tissue of sorts. The area around the injury gets bruised with physical activity. Tissue inflames and hurts more.

This theory is different from the standard nerve damaged theory which sells pain killers.

Not fully sure of my facts- but is there a link between food intake and med efficacy? Something about high fat meal affecting the processing of medicine.

Might be worth googling that topic.

A fatty meal slows absorption; an empty stomach should cause the mess to kick in - in 1/2 hour
