Not coping with the pain and wiery of going back to the doctor

I am not coping at all with the pain in the past 2 days. The pain is taking my breath away and the middle of my back is in agony. I don't know what to do anymore, I have pain in new places and at the base of my neck.

I am wiery of going back to the doctors due to the fact I have on going issues with them. I would very much like to change my hospital altogether and go to a new hospital due to the fact our relationship is fractured. This is due to raised questions, I am due to go back to my doctors and might ask for a referral. Do you think they might? Is it possible to have problems in the middle of my back that's not to do with CFS?

Also I have had blood tests to test for inflammatory issues, I am currently waiting for the results as I will not be told this is all in my head πŸ˜”πŸ™„πŸ€”

I've just looked up cfs which the NHS says it is another name for ME. Does this apply to you or is it something else ? Im wondering if you have a teaching hospital you could travel to as I'm uthinking they may have more specialists there. But maybe better to wait to see if you can get a copy of your MRI first. As they may well want to see it.

I was under a specialist hospital in Sutton for Me/CFS so might see if I can get referred back there for some advice. Many thanks for your time πŸ€—

You need to see a chiropractor. They can help give you a second opinion with which to challenge the doctors. Doctors are not good on muscle control issues. Over contracted muscles can cause all sorts of pain and discomfort issues. Hence the suggestion of a chiropractor.

Not sure what you mean by "I will not be told this is all in my head". Is this what the doctors are saying or is it what you are worried the doctors are thinking?

Thank you John for taking the time to reply. One doctor is suggesting my brain needs to catch up and another thinks it's functional so have had some blood tests done to rule out functional or rule in.

I guess I am being paranoid to a certain extent as to what they think and because I know there is a disorder called psychosomatic that does relate to it being in my head I am seeing a psychiatrist on Thursday morning as well to rule it in or out.

I guess I need to know before moving forward but unfortunately I am scared of the outcome as I am in a lot of pain and don't want my mental health relating to this.

I am on a downward spiral really, I'm paranoid, over thinking and not sleeping because I can't come to terms that it may be psychosomatic. I come on here to get different opinions as I'm crying out for help, although not a damsel in distress. It's really getting to me.

Sorry to lay all this on you, I just wanted to get it out there but I fully appreciate your input πŸ€—

You are right there is a diagnosis called psychosomatic. It is a get out clause for many a doctor who have no idea what is wrong.

The body is an engineering system. When the engineering system gets over loaded with stress it breaks down. Every little stress adds up. So by working to remove what little stresses you can it may be possible to take the over all stress below the stress breakdown point of the engineering system.

Sleep is important. You need sleep for the fine control of your muscles. Without fine control you will experience discomfort which is a stressor moving the stress level nearer to the stress breakdown point.

Mental health issues are often a lack of management ability in regard to emotions. Emotions are felt in the body. Emotions change by moving the body in a different way.

Psychiatrists will diagnose you according to the symptoms in the DSM. They often fail to enable patients to develop the needed management skills to handle their symptoms.

Hope I have been helpful.

You have been so helpful and very understanding. Thank you so much. I have BPD due to physical and sexual abuse as a young child. Doctors see mental health on my records and that's when the patronising starts.

I studied psychology, sociology and counselling when I was in my late 20s. Only basic and I didn't get to finish due to my little one getting very poorly.

My point is, I am an intelligent person to a point, I also know when people are fobbing me off. It annoys me that I have to tell my doctor what tests I think I may need, what referrals I need.

I was diagnosed with 2 illnesses within 3 months of each other. CFS and DDD, I was told it will never get better but now all of sudden it seems to be repairing itself. This is why I'm so upset, I was told things which I had in my mind for 2yrs. I was told I may end up in a wheelchair.

The pain is horrendous and on many occasions I can't catch my breath or get out of bed, I can't feel my finger tips but apparently I have no nerve damage.

The only thing I am sure of is that there is a problem in my neck on C5 and C6 and a straight neck.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply and help me on this journey. We each have our own journeys, I just want to be in control of the pain and then I will be happy.
